SoundCloud 101

The recording functionality on SoundCloud allows you to easily record any type of audio and directly upload it to your account. Great for voice memos, messages to your fans or for capturing sound bites.

Before you start

To get the most out of your recording experience, make sure you have connected your other social networking accounts with SoundCloud to automatically push your new recording to your friends or fans. Learn how to set up the connection here.

Recording on SoundCloud requires the latest Flash version so don't forget to update your Flash player here.

Overview

To start your recording, either click on the 'Upload & Share' button on the top of the page or directly click here.

You'll find the record button next to the 'Choose files' button. To start your recording, hit 'REC' and allow the Flash settings to access your microphone:

Once you're done, click the play button to preview your recording. Not happy with this version? Simply click 'Start over' to give it another try.

Liking what you hear? Then upload your recording to your account and in a next step, upload artwork, a description, sound type and other metadata to your recording, just like you're used to.
