It’s not the post-Super Bowl timeslot but:
NBC will unveil the pilot episode of its White House sitcom, “1600 Penn,” after the season finale of “The Voice,” at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17.
“1600 Penn” stars Bill Pullman (“Independence Day”), Jenna Elfman (“Dharma and Greg”), and Josh Gad (Broadway’s “The Book of Mormon”) as a dysfunctional First Family.
The series will air regularly on Thursdays at 9:30, starting Jan. 10, NBC reminded us in its Friday announcement of the post-“Voice” preview.
NBC has had great luck airing episodes of new series immediately after “The Voice.” Drama “Revolution,” airing Mondays at 10, is the season’s most successful new drama to date. Matthew Perry comedy “Go On” got a full-season pickup as a result of the ratings it has enjoyed after the singing competition on Tuesday nights.
And, 24 hours after this past Wednesday’s special broadcast of “The Voice” catapulted Dick Wolf’s new drama “Chicago Fire” to season-best numbers, NBC announced it had picked up that series for the rest of the season.
