The fantastic weather continues with bright sunshine today and temperatures trying to touch 70 in some places both today and tomorrow. Showers threaten by Monday night, and Tuesday has a totally different feel as a cold front passage keeps the rain chances going and knocks highs back down into the 50s, which is where they look to stay for the foreseeable future.
Today (Veterans Day): Wow - we really could not have asked for nicer weather to celebrate Veterans Day in the nation’s capital! After that long cold streak, we’ve got our second consecutive mild day as highs reach the upper 60s to near 70, about 10 degrees above average. Expect mostly sunny skies, and a light warm breeze from the south. Looks like a great day to spend time outside! Confidence: High
Tonight: Just a great evening to be out, especially for those who have tomorrow off, as temperatures drop into the 50s. Skies should stay mostly clear before clouds increase overnight or toward morning. Plan on mid-40s for overnight lows in the cooler suburbs, while downtown may only reach down to the low 50s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Southerly winds continue to pump in the warm air, sending highs back to the upper 60s to near 70. However, the mostly blue skies will be no more as skies turn partly to mostly cloudy out ahead of an advancing cold front. Can’t rule out a few showers moving into the western suburbs later in the afternoon. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Shower chances increase, to around 70%, from west to east as the cold front knocks on our door. Locations west of D.C. have the best chance of seeing rain during the evening, with showers gradually advancing east into the early-morning hours. Lows are still mild, ranging from the mid-40s to mid-50s. Confidence: Medium
A LOOK AHEADTuesday shapes up as the worst weather day of the week, though if the cold front comes through fast enough, we could salvage at least the latter part of the day. Showers remain likely during the early-to-mid morning, then rain chances decrease from west to east during the late morning into afternoon. Increasing winds from the northwest hold highs to the 50s despite the potential for some afternoon sun, followed by much cooler Tuesday night lows in the low-to-mid 30s. Confidence: Medium
Mostly sunny skies should prevail Wednesday as high pressure builds in. Don't’ let the sun fool you, though, as temperatures will still be rather brisk with highs only in the upper 40s to near 50. Confidence: Medium
