The charity for this half term is - Crohn's and Colitis UK"

The Charity Committee consists of a group of year 11 students who want to make a difference in the local community and across the globe through raising awareness and money for various charities. Regular activities that have been organised by the committee in the school include Harvest Collections for the Salvation Army, collecting for the Poppy Appeal, The Christmas Shoe Box Appeal and AGGS's annual Charity Day, held on the last day of the Autumn term before Christmas.

Charity day last year raised over £2800, meaning the 3 chosen organisations (Smile Train, Downs Syndrome Research Foundation and our South African partner school, Zephania Secondary School) received £945 each.

Each half term, a different charity is selected by the committee, for which money is collected weekly by all forms. This year these charities have included Play Pumps, war child and Faye’s Wish. In addition, the girls organised 2 very successful Easter Egg hunts and a chocolate Easter raffle, in aid of Faye’s Wish.

The committee work extremely hard every year to ensure all these events and activities and many more go ahead and they should be very proud of all their achievements.
