Altrincham Grammar School for Girls

Textiles Technology is located on the second floor of Fairlie in a dual-purpose room, equipped for the girls to learn about both design and construction within the textiles industry. All pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4, have the opportunity to explore and develop techniques in printing, dyeing, machine and hand embroidery, appliqué and product construction.

Within Textiles, we aim to develop not only skills in designing and making, but also to promote an environment that encourages the pupils to use transferable skills such as problem solving, team working, communication, research etc. This provides a varied aspect to their learning, which though ultimately subject specific, is an approach that the pupils appreciate and enjoy.
