LONDON - Scotland Yard says a 31-year-old man has been arrested by officers investigating corrupt links between police and journalists exposed by Britain's phone hacking scandal.
Scotland Yard says the man, a former employee for the National Health Service, was arrested on suspicion of corruption and suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office.
Police say the man was arrested at his home in west London early Thursday morning and is being questioned at a local police station.
The phone hacking scandal erupted when it emerged that Rupert Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World tabloid had systematically spied on politicians, celebrities, and sports stars.
The scandal has rocked Britain's establishment and triggered three parallel police investigations that have resulted in more than 40 arrests.
