The cream of the videogame crop has been hand-picked to battle for your entertainment in our all-out, no holds barred, slug-fest of the best trailers and videos from this year's E3! 32 characters from the hottest, freshest franchises will be judged by you, the fans, and there can only be one winner. Who gets an extra life and who gets unplugged is up to you!

We haven't done any mid-round updates like this up, but it's just gotten real over the last 24 hours during our post-E3 throwdown. First up, a LOT more of you are voting, and that's great, but that also means that the contests are getting more heated as the final eight contestants duke it out.

The big story, though is Assassins Creed III lead Connor going toe-to-toe with Hitman's Agent 47, and this is a close one as we head into the weekend: Connor's squeaking by with just a 1.76% lead as of this writing. In any event, you guys must really love assassins one way or the other (with a slight preference for the not-bald guy, much to my disappointment). Connor's the new guy on the block (relatively speaking, although the AC franchise has a couple of years under its belt now), while Agent 47 has been doing dirt since the PS2 era.

Which one will be the winner when the current round wraps up next Wednesday?

As many in the game industry (as well as those outside looking in) reflect on the tropes and treatment of women in games (and to a fair extent women and girl gamers), Lollipop Chainsaw hits the scene as a title that is, by design, guilty of the same tropes while gleefully upending them. Like Baoynetta, Lollipop Chainsaw is super aware of the kind of exploitative, hyper-sexual game it is, while at the same time giving us a giddily competent (and upbeat) heroine in chainsaw wielding zombie hunter Juliet Starling rambling around through an endless stream of horror and rock references, all set to a fantastic soundtrack.

Whether you think Suda51 and creative director/writer James Gunn went too far over the top or that they hit the sweet spot with winking at the audience just enough, it's a game whose content, points of reference, and ideas will be worth talking about for a while. It's a shame, though, that this is all wrapped around an actual game that's occasionally a chore to play, thanks to some clunky hack and slash action and a camera that constitutes maybe the most challenging enemy in the entire game.

You know a game company is coming out swinging when they hold a 22 minute long product showcase less than three weeks after E3, but that's exactly what Nintendo did last night. Courtesy of another Nintendo Direct internet broadcast, Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Amie, was accompanied by members of the Tree House and Nintendo staff to show off new hardware and software for the 3DS as well as updates about games for the Wii and Wii U. Basically, if you thought something was missing from Nintendo at E3, they covered it last night.

KAYAC is a Japanese developer with a handful of titles in the iTunes App store that feel like spiritual successors to the infernal game modes of the under-loved PSP minigame collection, Work Time Fun. Each one involves a single flick or swipe mechanic on your iPhone screen for 20 second bursts of scored gameplay, and right now five of their games are free in the App store. The typical synopsis goes a little something like this:

"Fish Man" is a simple fish cutting game.
Fish men are running around. Cut them as speedily as possible!

That's obviously from the game Fish Man (here's its iTunes page), and in those few words, you pretty much get the gist of what you're doing in those games.

We don't do a ton of mobile game coverage here, and these games are pretty uncomplicated and basic, but taken together (and owing to my how much, again, their WTF-ness remind me of Work Time Fun), I thought I'd point you in their direction and let you see if it was worth checking out for yourself.
