St. Tammany is likely to join group lawsuit over school voucher program

The St. Tammany Parish School Board approved 13-0 Thursday night a resolution that authorizes a lawsuit against the state over its recent passage of Act 2, more commonly known as the voucher program. The motion came up at a special board meeting at the C.J. Schoen Administrative Complex in Covington. Board members Bob Womack and Ray Alfred were absent.... Full story »

A 25-year-old Slidell man accused of bludgeoning his parents to death with a hammer is no longer facing a possible death sentence. When Mark Ramun pulled out a pocketknife and slashed the manager of a Mandeville wine bar during a tussle last spring, he had good reason to do it, he said at his trial Wednesday. Mandeville police to conduct DWI checkpoint on Sunday
