One of Cole Porters' signature songs, "Let's Do It" has been recorded by dozens of artists, ranging from Dean Martin all the way to Julie Driscoll. Yet this version by Billie Holiday may be the finest of all. The playful sexuality of the lyrics (which, of course, underline the fact that every living creature falls in love) are taken to it's zenith by Holiday, who always could take a seductive lyric and amplify the quality tenfold. This version finds Holiday performing once again with Eddie Heywood and His Orchestra, which reunited her with the great Lester Young, who's tenor saxophone solo is loaded with whimsy and musical witticism.
