Skin Diseases with an Immune Component, Part I: Allergic and Hypersensitivity-Related Conditions Release Date: August 24, 2011

In this third chapter of Living Medical e-Textbook: Dermatology Edition, Nikki Levin, MD, PhD will evaluate allergic and hypersensitivity-related skin conditions. Immune processes outlined in the first two chapters will inform this discussion of conditions including allergic, irritant, and atopic dermatitis; urticaria; and drug eruptions. Cathleen Case, MS, ANP-BC, DCNP, will cap off the chapter with practical nursing tips related to these conditions.

Activity Goal
The goal of this CME/CE program is to address the clinicians' needs in:

  • assessing the role of the immune system in the underlying pathophysiology of common dermatologic conditions
  • current strategies for immunomodulation
  • novel therapeutic strategies in the management of dermatologic conditions.
