Dropbox matches Google Drive with 5GB free

(CBS News) Dropbox announced Friday an upgrade to its photo uploader. The service is now making it easier to upload photos from any camera, smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.

Dropbox offers 5GB of free cloud storage

Dropbox is an online cloud storage service, comparable with Microsoft's SkyDrive or Google Drive. The service works by syncing folders on your computer with a disk drive in the cloud and mobile devices. A free membership comes with 2GB of space.

(AP) The Federal Trade Commission has hired a prominent trial lawyer to oversee its broad investigation into Google's business practices, signaling the agency is troubled by what it has discovered so far in its year-old probe.

Foxconn workers threaten suicide amid protest over wages

(CBS News) Workers at the Chinese factory Foxconn, where companies like Apple and Microsoft manufacture hardware, have threatened to commit suicide amid protests over wages.

Approximately 200 protesters in the Wuhan plant voiced concerns "workplace adjustments," however protests mostly  involves new workers of the plant," Reuters reports.

(AP) The House's solid bipartisan vote for a cybersecurity bill sends a message to the Senate: Now it's your turn to act.

Ignoring a White House veto threat, the House approved the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), which would encourage companies and the federal government to share information collected on the Internet to help prevent electronic attacks from cybercriminals, foreign governments and terrorists.

Google Translate reports 200 million monthly users

(CBS News) Google reported Thursday that Google Translate has reached 200 million monthly active users in six years.

"In a given day we translate roughly as much text as you'd find in 1 million books. To put it another way: what all the professional human translators in the world produce in a year, our system translates in roughly a single day," said Franz Och, research scientist at Google Translate, in a blog post.

(CBS/AP) House Republicans are pushing ahead with the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA). The legislation is said to protect the nation's critical infrastructure and corporations from electronic attacks. The Obama administration says that the legislation fails to protect Americans' civil liberties and has threatened to veto the bill.

Nintendo reports first ever annual loss

(CBS/AP) - Nintendo posted a net loss of 43.2 billion yen ($533 million) for the fiscal year Thursday, as weak sales of the Wii home console and the strong yen eroded earnings. The company's operating loss was 37.3 billion yen ($460 million).

Kyoto-based Nintendo, once the star of video games with franchises like Pokemon and Super Mario, has seen its glory fade with the advent of smartphones that are wooing away casual gamers.
