Indeo

IndeoLigos® Corporation’s Indeo Software® codec family provides video and audio codecs that help multimedia producers and web developers create high-quality distributable media without the expense or complexity of special hardware. The codecs (video versions 4 and 5, and audio codec version 2.5) were originally developed by Intel® Corporation, and for years have been a popular solution for video and audio in CD-ROM games, computer training titles, encyclopedias and online media. Ligos continues to distribute Indeo software for legacy applications still requiring its use in Windows 95, 98, ME, XP and NT/2000 operating systems.

PLEASE NOTE: Indeo is not supported for use with Microsoft’s “Vista” or “Windows 7″, or any Apple Mac operating systems. In addition, some Indeo-dependent applications may not work at all on those OSes, and Ligos is unable to provide a solution. More details below.

Ligos Indeo Codecs

As an option to meet the needs of those Windows (95, 98, ME, XP and NT/2000 only) users who require Indeo codecs, Ligos has created an enhanced bundle of the Indeo codecs called Ligos Indeo Codecs. The Indeo Codecs include Indeo Video version 5.2, as well as support for the older Indeo Video 4.5 and Indeo Audio 2.5 codecs (the 3.x video codec is no longer available nor supported). The Ligos Indeo Codecs package is available for purchase and download through our electronic store for $14.95. There is no free or demo version available.

With various updates to the Windows platform over the years, Microsoft has been inconsistent in its distribution of the Indeo codecs as a base part of its operating system. Unfortunately, a number of game and multimedia titles require Indeo to be installed on the OS in order to function.   • Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, or NT/2000 (32-bit only; there is no support for Windows 64-bit Operating Systems; in addition, “Windows Vista” and “Windows 7″ are not supported)
  • Pentium II or greater
  • Microsoft Video for Windows and/or Windows Media Player
