Help for Flood Victims

A list of various ways to help flood victims and to get help if you are a flood victim:

Bradford County

Free tetanus shots will be provided for those directly involved in flood-related cleanup Monday, 9-19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wilmot Fire Company , In on Second Street in Sugar Run. (posted 9-16)

A FEMA Recovery Center is open at the Towanda Fire Station, 101 Elm Street from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily until further notice.

Clean-up kits and supplies will be distributed at the Wyalusing Fire Hall, Athens Volunteer Fire Department and Monroeton Fire Department and Laceyville Fire Company.

Those who need water can go to Sayre Borough Shed and New Albany Fire Department.

People in need of clothing can go to New Albany Baptist Church, Wyalusing Fire Department and Sayre East Side Orthodox Church.

Residents with flood waste will be allowed to take it to the solid waste authority landfille until noon September 17 at no charge.

A donation center has opened at the Laceyville Fire Hall for people affected by the flood. THere is a large selection of clothing for men, women, children and babies. There are shoes for all ages.  There are also clearning supplies and food.

 

Columbia County

The Berwick Salvation Army and Wise Foods in Berwick are teaming up to fill a tractor trailer with new small appliances to aid recent flood victims, Wednesday October 5th, Friday October 7th, and Saturday October 8th from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Those who have registered with FEMA due to damage from the flooding will be eligible to apply and receive a small appliance. AGAPE on Seventh Street across from the YMCA in Bloomsburg has flood buckets and is serving a free evening meal every day. There are forms for flood victims to fill out to get help, and they are organizing teams of voluteers who actually help people clean.  They have clothes, personal items and food. They continue to supply evening meals from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. nightly (except Saturday, 9-17) at their facility at 19 East Seventh Street in Bloomsburg. Dinner hours on Sunday will be 3 p.m.  to 5 p.m. (updated 9-16)

The American Red Cross in Berwick is haning out free clean-up kits at 309 North Vine Street in Berwick from 9 a.m. tp 4 p.m.

The Community Center at 42 Community Drive in Benton has food available, canned goods, MREs and non-perishables. there are also flood buckets with cleaning supplies, garbage bags, disinfectants and paper towels.  Flood victims can also get toiletries and feminine hygiene products. Lackawanna County

St. Paul's Church, 401 W. Grove Street in Taylor will be having a clothing and accessory distribution on Saturday 10/8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clothing is available for Taylor residents as well as recent flood victims. Sizes range from children to adult.
