Genpo Roshi

Schedule for Continuing

Genpo Roshi founded and named the Kanzeon International Sangha in 1982 as a vehicle for disseminating his teachings and supporting the lineage of Zen Master Taizan Maezumi.  It continues as an international community, its primary location being where Roshi is at any given moment.

There are Zen Centers and practice groups all over the world affiliated with Kanzeon.  Roshi’s schedule is posted here and currently lists events through October 6-7, 2012, when he and Ken Wilber will appear together in Denver. He is presently dividing his time between his mountain cabin hermitage, Mount Solitude, near Salt Lake City Utah, which is the home of Big Heart Zen (Kanzeon, Inc.), and the Big Mind House in Maui Hawaii.

In Salt Lake City there are several locations where sitting and teaching continue. When he is in the Salt Lake area Roshi shares the teachings at his Mount Solitude hermitage; and at the home of Mary Ellen Sloan.  Regular sittings and talks are also offered by the Salt Lake Zen Group which is maintained by Mark Esterman and Mary Ellen Sloan, senior students of Genpo Roshi.

Big Mind is also essentially located with Genpo Roshi and wherever he is. In addition to holding Big Mind and Big Heart events at the Big Mind House in Maui and throughout the world, this year he will be offering Big Mind Facilitation Skills Trainings in  the spring and fall at East Canyon Resort, 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. Students trained by Roshi are offering Big Mind to individuals and small groups throughout the world.

For general information and to register for an event please call Ivis at the Big Mind office, 801-328-8414.  To sign up and register for events or for further information about them, please call Mary Ellen at 801-503-5656.
