Blog, The first 3 days...

Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 weeks allready.

Time has gone by faster then anytime I spent abroad so far...

The early mornings at the school in a real bar are great, but the nights are a lot of fun too. These weeks have been about finding balance between the barschool, studying at the beach and partying.

When Nicklass told us we were going to learn over a 100 cocktails by heart I thought it was madness... I haven´t studied that hard in a while.I never expected I would be able to know over 80 cocktails by now... I´m still behind a few, due my lack of studying the past weekend.During the last week of school we will luckily have the time to do a lot of repetition and I´m sure I can pass the exams.

Last weekend I worked at club Mix and it was great. Nicklass got me in contact with the owner and after a 2 hour try out on thursday he invited me to run a complete shift on Friday. It was extremely busy and all 5 bartenders were making drinks for 5 hours with little time for breaks. Allthough 3 weeks ago I didn´t know any cocktails I was happy all the studying payed off and I could make all cosmopolitan, gin tonics, mojito, caipiroskas, etc. without messing up.

Nicklass allready prepared us for the fact that every bar has a different setup and way of working but I was able to adapt easily.

Up to the last week! It´s been great spending so much time with like minded people, and all of the students are sorry we have only one last week together...

the summer ends and hello school again ^_^ I never expect it would be this exciting. But balancing things must be the priority.Clubbing must be the last on my list.Study study and study must be the priority. It is not that easy to leave abroad, lots of changes plus no parents that will take care of me.I have a solo life and it is time for me to be responsible with my life. It's fun to be with different people everyday. But still quizes and exams makes me tired and gives me headache but i know this won't last. And during weekend it's party time,a time for myself and friends,i think it's not bad to enjoy for a while besides i am studying a lot and sleep late at night just to read more books.I know the time i finish my studies they will be proud of me.

So, today was the third day of my Bartending Course... Finally we got to take place behind the bar and start making our first mistakes.

The first two days were about getting to know the bacics regarding Barcelona, the set up of the bar and how to handle your customers under the motto "Serving willingly allways".

After last night's group party in the Roxy Club it's fun to see how the group is really starting to come together. The hours together under Nicklas' guidance in the bar during the day and studying the bar setup at night with the other students, with Vodka shots for those making mistakes, are great!

Just 4 to 5 hours earlier we were all drinking and partying the night away. But at 10 sharp everybody is in and keen on learning the first cocktails. We started out with my favourite coming in to the course, "the Hardball" so that was a good sign. I wonder what my favourite cocktail will be coming out of the course...

I feel like I'm jumping all over the place, forgive me I just woke up from a mandatory siesta...

I arrived in Barcelona on saturday, great weather & beautiful people, for me Barcelona is the best city I've ever had the pleasure to be, next to Amsterdam ;)

Coming in to this course I had no idea what to expect. To be honest it felt like good fun and a good excuse to visit this great city once again with something interesting to do during the day & meeting new people... If I were to learn some cool stuff and new drinks to share at houseparties I would be well satisfied.

I wasn't prepared for what was coming though, Nicklass, our instructor is so passionate, fun and interesting he had me hooked within minutes. The stories about his life and his road to where he is now are so interesting and inspiring that I'm going to do my best to learn as much as possible from him during the coming four weeks. I hope to pass the exams at the end and I am sure to have invaluable experience I can use anywhere when I start travelling all over the map from January on (leaving room for me to change my mind and live in Barcelona for a while if the opportunities arises).

Can't wait to find out what we're in for tomorrow...
