Six members of the Western women's field hockey team have been selected to represent Ontario at the 2011 Senior Nationals held in Victoria, BC from June 29 to July 3rd.
Up front will be the zesty Alexandra Nelson (Erin, Ont.), reigning OUA Rookie of the Year, First Colour recipient, and second leading goal scorer for the Mustangs. By her side, and co-captaining the squad, will be OUA All-Star and All-Canadian Megan Scraper (West Vancouver, B.C.). Leading the team with Scraper will be Lauren Mackenzie (Burlington, Ont.), First Colour and team Rookie of the Year award winner for her efforts at centre midfield. On her wing will be Katelynn Roganowicz (Burlington, Ont.), a confident player who received First Colour accolades as well. Anchoring Ontario in the back will be Mustang Megan Duffy (Ilderton, Ont.), a visionary and hard hitting right defense, and Katie Feagan (Goderich, Ont.), a speedy tackler and team Fitness Award recipient.
The team will be coached by Western's own Jeff Pacheco. Assistant coach Nick Hignell will be representing Ontario on the men's side as well.
