Men: Gold: Toronto, SIlver: Western, Bronze: York
Women: Gold: Montreal, Silver: York, Bronze: Western
This past August weekend Western competed with Simon Fraser, Alberta and the University of Montreal in the University tennis championships at York University. They shared the hard court with the Rogers Cup an annual event featuring the best tennis players around the globe. Western played their sem-final matches versus Simon Fraser. They were narrowly defeated in draws 6-5 despite winning the doubles side of the competition. Despite the loss Western finishes the University Championships as one of the top four universities in Canada. A huge accomplishment to hang their hats on.
The Western Mustangs men’s and women’s tennis teams are participating in the Rogers Cup Canadian University Championships from Aug. 11-13 in Toronto. The teams qualified for this event at the OUA championships and will compete against three other universities: Alberta, Simon Fraser and Montreal.
