NCSL's Summary of the "Child Welfare Improvement and Innovation Act"

Child Welfare Improvement and Innovation ActOn September 12, 2011, the U.S. Senate and House introduced legislation that would renew and extend the U.S. Deprtarment of Health and Human Services ability to grant Title IV-E child welfare waivers to states.  The legislation would reauthorize the Promoting Safe and Stable Families through 2016 as well.  More

New Rules Allow Integration of Human Services and Health Eligibility Systems

babiesOn August 10, the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services issued a joint letter allowing for states to integrate human services and health eligibility systems.  The letter from HHS and USDA would allow states, at their discretion, to integrate human service program eligibility determination functions in the creation of the Exchanges and overhaul of Medicaid eligibility.  More
