Zazen on December 25
The zendo will be open on Sunday, December 25th for zazen from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

Welcome Potluck for Genmyo Zeedyk
On Tuesday, December 27th at 6:00 PM Sheila Selkregg will be hosting a potluck dinner as an opportunity to meet and welcome Genmyo Zeedyk, the visiting teacher who may become a resident priest. Written instructions can be found here. A Google map can be viewed here.

Fall Dharma Study Group
Join the current study/discussion group based on Phillip Moffitt’s Dancing with Life. The group meets from 7 to 8:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. It is an informal setting, where everyone is encourage to share with and learn from each other. Email zen@alaska-zen.org, if you would like to be added to the study group’s email list. Visit Moffitt’s website, it contains study guide resources for Dancing with Life.

Half-day Sit
A half-day zazen retreat will be held on Saturday, January 14th. It will start at 9 am and end at 12:30 pm. If you have never participated in a retreat before it is a great introduction. There will be an opportunity to ask an experienced community member questions about Zen practice. All are welcome to attend. If you are not familiar with zazen, consider attending Newcomers’ Night on January 10th at 7 pm. To view a detailed schedule click here.

Monthly Board Meeting
The next board meeting will be held Sunday, January 8th, 2012 after the morning ceremony.

Midnight Sesshin
The Midnight Sesshin will be held from Wednesday, December 28th to Monday, January 2nd. The daily schedule of the Anchorage Zen Community will be suspended during this time. It is still possible to register for the sesshin, and if you are interested in attending please register as soon as possible. To download the registration form click here; registration forms are also available in the zendo lobby. If you are planning to register please email zen@alaska-zen.org, so meals can be planned accordingly.
