Collaborative Cybersecurity

Developing the Cyber Operations Maturity Framework

Organizations need situational awareness of today’s increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, of their own network vulnerabilities, and of the shared risk within their communities to protect their interconnected networks. They need to know what data is most important to defend, and how they can safely and effectively exchange information through the networks they rely on for success.
With a cyber operations maturity framework, organizations begin by improving internal network security through a holistic approach that encompasses policy, management, human capital and operations. When connected organizations within an industry community adopt this process, they develop a trust and confidence in one another that makes possible an broad exchange of secure information.
Booz Allen works closely with organizations in government, health, finance, transportation, energy and other industries to develop maturity frameworks that benchmark and build effective cyber operations. We guide organizations through this dynamic, collaborative approach, and help them achieve the high level of internal and external cybersecurity needed in today’s hyper-connected world.

Re-Imagining Infrastructure

Booz Allen is helping create the leadership, vision and knowledge to rebuild America’s infrastructure

America must rebuild its infrastructure if we are to remain strong as a nation and maintain our quality of life. While the country has the talent, know-how, experience—and even the funds—to rebuild, the state of our infrastructure has not improved. We need a comprehensive, flexible and scalable approach through which stakeholders can find common goals and work together.
There are four steps to the re-imagining: 1) Understanding infrastructures as highly complex networks. 2) Developing innovative design principles that will allow the infrastructures to adapt and grow. 3) Building a collective leadership that will align the interests and actions of stakeholders. 4) Creating a national, unified vision for America’s infrastructure.
Booz Allen is helping clients re-imagine infrastructure in a variety of initiatives. We have worked closely with clients on the causes and prevention of disasters like the one that took place in the Gulf of Mexico. We are also helping the Federal Aviation Administration think through and create the “Next Gen” of air transportation systems.

Right-Sizing IT Operations with RightIT

Booz Allen’s RightITTM approach can cut IT costs by 40 percent and improve IT operations.

As budget pressures mount, federal leaders are requiring agencies to cut costs by improving how they acquire and manage information technology. Systems and data are often fragmented, reducing efficiencies while increasing complexity and costs. Agencies seek reform but often don’t have a clear understanding of IT costs or how to implement enterprise-wide change.
Booz Allen’s RightIT™ methodology assesses IT operations and provides visibility into IT requirements and cost drivers. RightIT analyzes supply and demand factors as well as acquisition strategy to determine rational, achievable opportunities for cost reduction. The holistic approach identifies both immediate savings and a path to sustained efficiency and improvement.
Booz Allen draws upon experts from a wide spectrum of disciplines, including business analytics, technology and innovation, operations and engineering, and organizational strategy, to implement RightIT. With RightIT, we helped a government health organization align IT spending with transformation goals to save over $20 million and a global pharmaceutical company save up to 30 percent on $164 million in IT spending.

Live, Virtual, and Constructive Training

Booz Allen helps the Air Force deliver tailored training and mission rehearsals.

Because of the diminishing availability of “live-fly” opportunities, shrinking budgets, and high operations tempo, Air Force commanders needed affordable training solutions to meet their varied readiness and mission rehearsal requirements for pilots and aircrews stationed throughout the world.
Booz Allen developed a low-cost, reliable capability to connect constructive mission training scenarios at the Air National Guard Distributed Training Operations Center (DTOC) with advanced simulators and real-world systems to form a distributed synthetic operational environment. DTOC can tailor training to the specific needs of pilots and crews throughout the world.
Booz Allen’s low-cost network and white force support, a dedicated team of military domain, has enabled the DTOC to increase the number of distributed mission operations (DMO) training events from just five each week to several each day. DTOC has reduced training costs and minimized wear on aircraft, while also providing full-service mission planning to enhance readiness and performance.
