I was lucky enough at Comic-Con to meet Ernie Cline, the fantastic screenwriter of the hilarious movie Fanboys!! If you are as much a Star Wars fan as I am, you'll love every second of this movie and it has a cameo with Carrie Fisher!!! How can you go wrong? And now Ernie has his first novel coming out, Ready Player One. I just finished the book last week and I was hooked from the first page to the last, no joke. It is a suspenseful cyberspace roller coaster read perfect for geeks!! Check out the New York Times review of his book too!
Here's the book synopsis via Deadline:
A teenager named Wade Watts escapes his bleak surrounds by logging into Oasis, a globally networked virtual utopia where users lead idyllic alternate lives. When the game’s eccentric billionaire creator dies, he offers up his fortune as the prize in an elaborate treasure hunt. Watts is pitted against powerful corporate foes and ruthless competitors who’ll do anything, in the Oasis and real world, to reach the treasure first.
I interviewed Ernie about his new book, Star Wars, video games and his DeLorean!
LW: Ok first off, I LOVE the movie Fanboys! It is so damn funny! How were you able to get your script from your desk all the way to Hollywood?
EC: I originally intended for Fanboys to be an ultra-low-budget indie film that I planned to shoot here in Austin. I wrote a part in the script for Harry Knowles to play himself, then gave him the script to see if he'd agree to be in it. Harry really loved my script and posted a glowing review of it on his website, which is read by everyone who works in Hollywood. Harry's review got the attention of a young producer who tracked me down and optioned the script. It took several more years after that, but eventually the movie was bought and produced by the Weinstein Company. It was a long, strange journey.

So one of the highlights I'd knew I'd be experiencing at Comic-Con, besides my lucky run in with Mark Hamill, was the chance to interview the Mythbusters crew - Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and my good friend from our old Lucasfilm days together Grant Imahara. While most of my crazy cohorts were out finding the hippest geek parties, I curled up in my hotel room, catching up on as many Mythbusters shows and I could, preparing my questions. I had interviewed celebrities before, but something about these guys made me nervous! Why God why???
Tory, Kari, Grant and I got to spend a lovely Saturday morning together discussing all things Mythbusters! These guys are so easy going and so much fun to hang with! We talked about Star Wars, vomit, ear wax candles, RPG's (Not role playing games!), sky diving and Grant's current bachelor status! We even talked about Craig Ferguson's crush on the entire team and poor Geoff Peterson needing some arm repairs...
Check out their awesome interview here!

Don't miss these guys and the new season of Mythbusters this Fall on the Discovery Channel!

One of my highlights at this year's Comic-Con was the chance to interview the queen of all GEEK GIRLS, Bonnie Burton! Bonnie is not only the Sr. Editor for Starwars.com and a huge Bettie Page fan but has written several books including: The Star Wars Craft Book, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Planets in Peril, Draw Star Wars: The Clone Wars, You Can Draw: Star Wars, Girls Against Girls: Why We Are So Mean To Each Other And How We Can Change.
I just don't how this amazing woman does it all but she does and with a smile to boot!!
I got to spend a momentous hour with Bonnie asking her about her new craft book, her marriage to R2, how she handles all the Star Wars social media, geek girls, cosplay, Seth Green, and other Geek celebrities! I also sat in on the panel "Oh You Sexy Geek" where she gave us geek girls some great advice about being geeky and proud. I walked the Comic-Con floor with her and met Kyle Newman, OMG. Thanks Bon for taking that photo!! She even promised me next time we'll make Star Wars crafts together, CANNOT WAIT!!

I've been back from Comic-Con just one week and still haven't caught up on all my coverage! While at Comic-Con I was lucky enough to interview some of the fabulous crew from Star Wars: Clone Wars!! As you know, Season 4 is coming out this Fall and the Force was with me as I got to chat with Dave Filoni, Joel Aron, Ashley Eckstein and Dee Bradley Baker about what's next for Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Clones!
First up is Supervising Director, Dave Filoni. Dave's a totally awesome dude and I met him last year at Star Wars Celebration. He is super excited about the next season and talks about Anakin, genius animation of the show and what the fans can expect in the latest season. Oh and you also will find out if he lets me try on his signature cowboy hat!

Ok, so Joel Aron, the Visual Effects Supervisor has been a great friend to me for, gulp, 18 YEARS! We met while working at ILM together! Joel made the jump from live action to fully-animated series on The Clone Wars. He is just so talented and talked me about all the hard work that goes behind the scenes in creating the series and how passionate he is about it all - "cinematic, poetic and stunning" are the 3 words he uses to describe Season 4.

At San Diego Comic Con, Hasbro has once again released a massive figure in their, usually much smaller, Marvel Universe line. While last year brought us the Eater of Worlds known as Galactus, while this year fans were lucky enough to be offered the mutant-hunting automaton-- The Sentinel! These genocidal robots have been around for years in the Marvel Comics' universe, and have recently upped their appearances thanks to the latest X-Men: Schism storyline. Seems like perfect time for a toy, right?

So I covered as much Star Wars stuff as BIONICALLY possible at this year's San Diego Comic-Con 2011. I want to give you all the Star Wars Round Up of what I covered to make sure you didn't miss anything!!!
1. STAR WARS BLU-RAY RELEASE 9.16.11
Need I say more??? Deleted scenes, never seen before footage, you know the drill!!!
2. The Clone Wars Season 4 Premiering this Fall!
Ok I actually saw TWO panels on The Clone Wars, one with Dave Filoni, Joel Aron and Cary Silver discussing the story arcs, new characters like KATEE SACKOFF'S, (OMG) old characters coming back and lots of new clips! The second panel I saw was on the Rendering the Galaxy Far, Far Away: The Digital Art and Light of The Clone Wars. Joel Aron, Dave Filoni and another producer discuss the effects Lucasfilm Animation creates to produce the series.
