Just yesterday, a freshly-discounted Scribblenuats Remix stormed the App Store and de-throned the venerable Angry Birds. Now a new challenger has entered the mix with a strong fan base and similar under-a-buck pricing. Days of Wonder has launched an iPhone version of their hit board game Ticket to Ride, which has already sold over 2 million physical copies and had its iPad version named Apple's Game of the Week. Now the only remaining question is how much mainstream success this hobby gaming hit can have as it attempt to climb the App Store ladder.
Ticket to Ride Pocket includes the standard USA map and three game modes: solo, pass-and-play multiplayer, and local wifi multiplayer. Separate leaderboards for the 2-3 and 4-5 player modes, as well as 20 achievements, are included to spur score-based competition among your friends.

There are so many apps, games and accessories available for our iOS devices it's almost disgusting. To give everyone a hand picking out some cool gear and software for the Apple fanatic in their life this holiday season we decided to put together a list of 10 of our favorite iPhone and iPad games and accessories. Enjoy!
Apple Digital AV Adapter - iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch
We'll start with the basics. Watching TV shows and movies from iTunes and Netflix on the iPad can be great. But if you're not on the go why confine the entertainent to such a small screen? Apple's Digital AV Adapter lets you connect an HDMI cable to your iPhone 4, iPad and 4th Gen. iPod Touch so you can watch movies and even play games like Angry Birds on an HDTV! You can pick one up for $39 from the Apple Store, though you'll also need an HDMI cable -- Amazon usually has them for a good price. Read more...

The worlds of video gaming and hobby gaming don't collide very often, but when they do, prepare yourself for some rather interesting results. Ubisoft has thrown video game journalists for a loop by announcing Assassin's Creed Recollection, a digital card game for iOS. With a 10 hour campaign.
Little is known about the gameplay outside of this blurb from the official Ubisoft press release:
Assassin's Creed Recollection lets fans discover and amass a wide variety of artwork created for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Players also will be able to compete in political battles in a real-time strategy game with key characters and locations from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Nickelodeon's website, AddictingGames.com, has a bunch of great, free games available to anyone looking to kill some time. Earlier this month they released a mobile app for iOS devices that puts a collection of those games in the palm of our hand and the app topped the App Store download charts only 48 hours after its release!
Games like Potty Copter, Zombie Burglar and Perfect Hoopz 2 are just few of the mini-games you'll find inside the app and the best part is they are all completely free, just like the versions we can find on Nick.com. There were almost 20 games at launch, but Nickelodeon plans on updating the app with new games all the time and the first update came on October 20th as a special Halloween theme pack. Read more...

A common Tweet and message board posting (originating, I believe, with comedian Patton Oswalt) I saw last night when the news of Steve Jobs' passing was announced was: "RIP Steve Jobs. Closest thing we had to Tony Stark." And it's true -- just as the comic book character Stark radically shaped the look and technology of the Marvel Universe, the work of Apple co-founder Jobs has made a lasting impact on almost every impact on our lives. Items that would have been the domain of mere science fiction -- a slim, compact phone that lets you surf the Internet and a tablet with a touch-screen -- have now become commonplace facts of life, used not just by techies and "early adopters" but by the public as a whole.
But the legacy of Jobs does not end with his technological advances. The very look and style of Apple products and advertising -- clean, simple, and elegant -- has influenced everything from interior design to fashion, creating a mix of Zen meets the Space Age. The leadership style of Jobs and his business philosophy has also been very iconic and influential -- focusing on the Message first and building everything around that central point. And that Message was all about demystifying new technology and making it accessible to the People -- personal computers were no longer the domain of the highly-trained tech whiz, but could be used easily by everyone. LEGO fanatics that happen to have one or more Apple iOS devices have a new game to check out. Dubbed Life of George, the new app will challenge players to build specific models and score them based on overall speed and accuracy.
The idea behind the game is simple -- you build the model you see on your iPhone or iPod Touch screen, set it on the play mat, then snap a photo of it using your device’s camera. The faster you build it (correctly) the more points you get. Read more...
