UCSB Computer Science Department presents:
A Bash with Brian Fox: GNU Software and EntrepreneurshipWednesday, November 16, 2011 3:30 to 5:00 pm 1132 Harold Frank Hall, UCSB Brian J. Fox is a computer programmer, entrepreneur, consultant, author, and free software advocate. In 1985 Fox worked with Richard Stallman at Stallman's newly created Free Software Foundation. At the FSF, Fox authored GNU Bash, GNU Makeinfo, GNU Info, GNU Finger, and the readline and history libraries. He was also the maintainer of Emacs for a time, and made many contributions to the software that was created for the GNU Project between 1986 and 1994. After authoring the Bash Shell and Wells Fargo online banking, he served as CTO for a wide variety of technology startups. In 2004, he founded the Okori Group, a technology company based in Santa Barbara, California, where is is currently a Technology Partner.
