For the Media

As a leading source of high-level research on Asia, NBR places priority on providing the media with accurate, informed, nonpartisan analysis on the Asia-Pacific.

NBR connects the media with leading experts on the region, serves as a resource on issues in Asia today—including politics, security, trade, economics, energy, and health—and provides advance copies of select publications.

NBR Newsletters—NBR publicizes upcoming events and activities, announces new publications, and highlights recent research through three email newsletters: NBR Update, NARP News, and the NBR Academic Update. Sign up to receive these newsletters and other announcements about NBR events and publications.

Experts—NBR's "network of experts" model allows us to maintain close relationships with the best specialists in the United States and worldwide.

NBR partners with the Woodrow Wildon International Center for Scholars to run the National Asia Research Program (NARP), a major research and conference program designed to reinvigorate the policy-relevant study of Asia. At its core are the National Asia Research Associates and Fellows, an exclusive group of scholars selected through a competitive, nationwide process based on their research into issues of strategic importance to U.S. interests in Asia.

For specific recommendations on a subject-matter or area expert or to contact experts who work directly for NBR, please contact us by email or phone.

Events—NBR invites the media to many of its events. Many of these events are located either in Seattle, Washington, near NBR's headquarters, or near its additional office in Washington, D.C., but NBR also hosts events around the country and around the world.

Research—NBR's research is conducted by the following groups, centers, and chairs:

Center for Health and Aging (CHA)
Trade, Economic and Energy Affairs (TEEA)
Political and Security Affairs (PSA)
National Asia Research Program (NARP)
John M. Shalikashvili Chair in National Security Studies
