Sri Lanka win bowl at CW Youth Games

Sri Lanka’s sevens team that participated in the Commonwealth Youth Games 2011 won the bowl after defeating Trinidad and Tobago 24-12 in the final.

Sri Lanka were in Pool B and lost their first two matches to South Africa (62-0) and England (64-0) before beating Trindad and Tobago 17-5, to finish third.

In the quarter-finals they lost to Scotland 47-0. In the plate semi-final they were defeated by the home team, Isle of Man 26-15, and were pitted in the Bowl finals, against Trinidad and Tobago.

The Sri Lanka under 18 rugby sevens was led by dashing Peterite Dhanushka Ranjan.

The following are the members in the Sri Lanka team: Dulaj Perera, Dhanushka Ranjan (Capt-St. Peter’s), Kanil Seneviratne, Sanjaya Somasiri, Radhika Alwis (All from Trinity), Richard Dharmapala, Hashan Maduranga (Science College), Lochana Ekanayake, Miyuru Hewawasam (Dharmarajah), Jason Dissanayake (Vidyartha), Woshan Randima (Ananda) and Arshad Jamaldeen (Royal).

The sevens team was coached by Nilufer Ibrahim (Head Coach), the former Kingswood, Kandy SC, and Navy SC player and present Trinity Head Coach.
