I am having trouble logging into my account. What do I do? There are a few different solutions to your log-in problems:

Registration

Why do I have to reregister? Chicago Tribune and ChicagoPOINTS have updated its registration system to be simpler and offer an enhanced social experience. With this new system, our old registration system is no longer valid. Everyone who was previously registered for mychicagopoints.com and chicagotribune.com will have to re-register with this new system.

Will I lose my ChicagoPOINTS? No. You will not lose your current ChicagoPOINTS balance as long as you re-claim your points during the registration process. After you create your profile and choose your newsletters you will see a screen to reclaim your points. You will need your old user name and password from the previous web site in order to match your old ChicagoPOINTS account balance with your new account. If you do not remember your password, follow the link on the re-claim your points screen to have your password sent to you via email.

Will I have to change my password? The new registration eliminates the need for you to have a unique password for our site. Simply pick one of the six providers offered to register on the site.

Will I lose my contest/auction entries? No. All entries into contest and auctions will remain. If you win you will be notified via the email address on file. You will need to register on the new web site in order to enter additional contests or auctions.

If I do not re-claim my points now will I get an opportunity to do so later? No. During your initial registration is the only time you will be offered the opportunity to re-claim your previous points balance.

What if I create a new account by accident? If you accidently create a new account send a message immediately to Contact Us and alert us of the issue. Please provide your old user name and password from your previous account in the email so we can research the issue quickly.

I'm having difficulty getting through the process, who do I contact if I have questions? You can email our Chicago Tribune customer service at chicagopoints@tribune.com we will make every effort to respond within 48 hours.

Do I need to purchase anything to become a member? No, the program is entirely free.

Can I participate in the program with my Mac? Yes, if you are a Macintosh user, we welcome you to join the program. You are able to receive ChicagoPOINTS through activities such as Secret Codes, Special Offers, Surveys, Referrals, and use your ChicagoPOINTS in our Auctions, Contests, and Trade-In.

Can I participate in the program on more than one computer? Yes, just make sure you are logged on to the computer you want to earn ChicagoPOINTS with. (You can't earn ChicagoPOINTS simultaneously on both computers, but it is possible to be logged-on to both at the same time.)

If I share my computer with someone else, can we both participate in the program? Yes, but each individual will have to register separately. If you share a computer, make sure you are logged in to the right account each before earning ChicagoPOINTS.

I signed up twice by accident. Can you combine my accounts? We're sorry, we cannot combine accounts at this point of time.

My address is not being accepted. Why? Only valid U.S. addresses are accepted. No Canadian addresses or P.O. Boxes are accepted at this time.

I don't have an account with any of the 6 providers listed on the Login/Register Page what should I do? No problem, just click where is says "Sign Up Now" on the bottom right hand of the page and follow all the instructions closely.

I have already matched my account using one of the six third party providers (AOL, Google, Facebook, Twitter, My Space Yahoo) but want to sign in where it says "Sign in with your email address and password" can I do that? In order to maintain your current point balance and prize entries please stick with whichever third party provider you used when you matched your account. In order to keep your loyalty points and activity you will need to continue using that same sign-in process/ third party provider.

I have successfully signed in, in the past under "Sign in with your email address and password" but it is not working for me right now. Why isn't it working? This sign on area is CASE SENSITIVE. Make sure you sign in exactly the same way as when you registered.

I am a former Loyalty Points user and have not matched my account using one of the six third party providers and want to sign in within the area that says "Sign in with your email address and password" can I do that? Yes you can. If you were previous registered on our website and you remember your old user name and password go ahead and sign otherwise click the "Sign Up Now" button and follow the instructions.

I registered/signed in using "Sign in with your email address and password" but forgot my password. How do I retrieve it? Please just click the "Forgot Password" icon in the lower right hand corner of the Login/Register page and follow the instructions.

I signed into my loyalty program utilizing a new email address and created a password and I don't see my original point balance. You created a new account instead of logging into your existing account. In order to maintain your current point balance and prize entries please stick with the third party provider you used when you matched your account.

How do I access and make changes to my personal profile and shipping address? You may access your Edit Profile and Ship To Address from the "My Account" page from the top of the page. On the Edit Profile page you may change/update password, email, birth date, sex, and zip and on the Ship To Address page you may change/update the shipping address.

I have a question about the program who do I ask? Just submit your question to Member Support.

What are System Notifications? These are notification emails that are generated and sent by the system automatically. (Such as: Winner Notifications and Prize Cancellations) For this reason, every member must provide a valid email address as a condition of membership. System notifications can not be opted-out from.

How do I earn ChicagoPOINTS To see all ChicagoPOINTS earning opportunities check out the "Get ChicagoPOINTS" area.

I referred a friend to the program and I have not received my referral ChicagoPOINTS. When do I get credited for these ChicagoPOINTS? You will be credited as soon as your friend confirms his or her registration. Once s/he registers s/he will receive a confirmation email that s/he has to complete. Once s/he does this, you will receive your referral ChicagoPOINTS. The 10% Primary Referral ChicagoPOINTS are updated once a week. (Monday A.M.)

Can a friend and I pool our ChicagoPOINTS together? No, we do not allow for the pooling of ChicagoPOINTS into one account.

How do I know if I won an Auction/Contest/Trade-In? If you win, you will be notified via email within 24 hours of the close of the Auction/ Contest/Trade-In.

I just won an Auction/ Contest/Trade-In ...how do I get my prize?

We ship
For prizes we ship, we offer free shipping to addresses within the continental United States. We will ship your prize to you 3-8 weeks from the closing of the Auction/ Contest/Trade-In(as long as you have provided the correct shipping information). If you need to correct this information, go to the "Ship to Address" page in the "My Account" section.

You will also receive a winner notification email with the pick-up details.

How do I place a bid in an Auction? First, choose an Auction you are interested in bidding on. (Be sure that you are logged in so that you have access to the ChicagoPOINTS you have collected.) Enter a bid between the "minimum" and "maximum" bid increment. Then hit the "place bid" button.

If I am outbid in an Auction, what happens to my ChicagoPOINTS? Once you are outbid in an Auction, the ChicagoPOINTS you used to bid with will be rewarded back to your account.

Does the Auction currently support proxy bidding? Proxy bidding is not currently offered in the Auctions.

Can I cancel or retract my bid? No, once a bid is placed, it cannot be canceled or retracted.

What is overtime? When an Auction reaches its closing time, the Auction will remain open if there is active bidding. This allows everyone who wishes to place a bid to do so. The Auction will continue until there are no active bids for a set amount of time. Overtime is very much like an auctioneer yelling going...going...gone at the end of a traditional auction. This creates a fair opportunity for everyone who wishes to participate in the Auction.

Is there any limit to the number of Auctions or Contests I can win? Members can win 99 Auction or Contests per 1-day period, per member.

How do I enter a Contest? First choose a Contest you are interested in entering (be sure that you are logged in so that you have access to the ChicagoPOINTS you have collected). Enter the number of entries you would like in the "Qty of Entries" box - each Contest will indicate the ChicagoPOINTS needed per entry. Then hit the "Submit Entry" button. ChicagoPOINTS will be deducted from your account once you submit your entry.

How many Contest entries can I get? You can exchange your ChicagoPOINTS for as many Contest entries as you want. In fact, the more you buy, the better your chances of winning!
