I'm one of two deputy metro editors and supervise our suburban bureaus along with a group of reporters and editors downtown.

A graduate of Northern Illinois and Sangamon State University, Jurik was a reporter for 15 years at the Knoxville (Tenn.) Journal, Lansing (Mich.) State Journal, Kansas City Star and Daily Southtown, covering government, crime and courts. He became Southtown sports editor in 1999. Jurik has been an editor in metro for the Tribune since 2003.
