While we all eagerly await the second season of Game of Thrones, HBO has been filling their online store and brick-and-mortar retail outlet in NYC with all sorts of awesome goodies from Westeros.
At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con the Iron Throne, which has unfortunately passed to Joffery Baratheon (hate that kid), made a preview appearance as an especially cool paperweight. To the dismay of many convention attendees the limited-run (or so we thought) item quickly sold out.
Thankfully, there’s some good news for all of you who missed your chance to snag one -- the Iron throne Paperweight has returned! Anyone looking for an awesome piece for their desk or gift for that Game of Thrones geek in their life can head over to Shop.HBO.com or the HBO Shop in NYC (1100 6th Ave. at 42nd St.) and buy one right now! The ghost of a Spanish witch burned at the stake is set to take her revenge on the vampires of the world. Can Bill protect his kingdom?
So if you haven't been digging the witch-ity goings-on in True Blood then this is definitely not the episode for you, filled as it is, with wall-to-wall spells, possessions, flashbacks, magic circles, and curses. We get to see the spirit inhabiting Marnie (calling herself Antonia now) do her thing, causing Bill and the vampires of the kingdom of Louisiana to run scared. With this episode, she begins marshaling an army, made up of Earth mothers, burnouts, and hippies--and Tara(!)--with the promise of providing this huddled mass of terrified humanity protection from vamps. What that really means is that she plans on forcing all of the vampires to crawl out of their coffins in the middle of the day and march out into the blazing sun. Say what you will about the overall hokiness of ghost witches (along with Bill's shortsighted plan to protect himself and the rest of his kingdom), the writers of True Blood know how to set up an effect threat for their fanged "heroes."
