Young Justice is about to start it's new season very soon on Cartoon Network, and we are very excited to see what's coming up. In our opinion, YJ is second only to ThunderCats when it comes to current American animated series, and takes top spot over previous beloved DC animated shows (Scream at us in the comments section JLU fans!). The character interactions, dynamic stories, and big-name guest appearances have made Young Justice into a show that is not to be missed. Those who closely follow George R. R. Martin's musing and progress reports on his "Not a Blog" website are quite familiar with the "Meereenese Knot," a particularly difficult convergence of plot lines in Martin's A Dance With Dragons. Centered around the development of Daenerys Targaryen, the Knot provided crucial setup for the resolution of the A Song of Ice and Fire series over the next two books, and had fans hanging on Martin's every word leading up to the release of Dance.

We caught up with Martin recently at Bubonicon, and you can listen to the man himself explain what character finally provided the necessary viewpoint for the Knot's untangling.

Fans who waited over ten years to catch up with Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow in A Dance With Dragons are no strangers to cliffhangers, but as George R. R. Martin points out during our recent chat at Bubonicon, they're an essential tool in a writer's toolbox. They're even more important for Martin in writing the A Song of Ice and Fire series, where the viewpoint style of storytelling forces him to write eight or more endings for each book. Magic is gone. Giles is dead--Angel killed him. So are most of the Slayers Buffy spent the last couple of years training and leading against the many monsters and menaces of the world. Some of that was Angel's fault, too. He was working with and sort of possessed by the entity calling itself "Twilight" and for a while there he was moving a bunch of pieces around the board--including Slayers, high-tech vampires, the very fabric of the universe--for his own purposes. Now with Buffy M.I.A., Angel's wracked with new levels of broody guilt. Along comes Faith, the once "bad" Slayer who entered a sort of mentor/partner relationship with Giles in Season 8. She's taken it upon herself to try to guide a pretty much wrecked Angel back to the light--or at least get him out of his room.

That's pretty much the rough outline of where things start in the first issue of Angel & Faith, which marks the full-on return of the vampire with a soul to Dark Horse Comics after the conclusion of "After the Fall" at IDW. Written by Christos Gage with art provided by Rebekah Isaacs, the book plunges headlong into the post-Twilight messiness of Season 8. We picked Mr. Gage's brain about the first issue and he gave us a guided tour into a Buffyverse that was looking a bit grimmer than it did last time we saw it.

Did you know that the 300th issue of The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury came out last year? If the title sounds a little unfamiliar, then it's because Miranda Mercury, the creation of writer Brandon Thomas and artist Lee Ferguson, hasn't really been around all that long. First, she knocked around as an idea for a sci-fi, space patrolling vigilante in the minds of Thomas and Ferguson, finally reaching the page at Archaia. The first volume of stories, The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury: Time Runs Out was just recently released, and we thought we'd pick Thomas' brain on the process of creating the character, why he and Ferguson chose to start the series at issue 294, and the challenges of reaching a broader audience with a black, female, science adventurer character.

ThunderCats Week rolls on here at MTV Geek like the ThunderTank tearing through a Lizardman platoon! While the animated series is a huge hit, and the driving force behind the ThunderCats' resurgence in popularity, the mulitple toy lines by Bandai America Inc. have strengthened fan's interest along with that of newcomers to Lion-O and his band of rebel warriors. We first saw this line at Toy Fair, and then scored our first taste at San Diego Comic-Con. As with any good world builder or designer, you get the sense when speaking to Dan Norton--who provides designs for the ThunderCats as Art Director--that he's spent some time thinking critically about what makes the revamped world of Third Earth tick--from its environments to inhabitants and how one affects the other. Earlier this week, Dan spoke with MTV Geek about some of the thinking that went into the latest addition to the show, the updated version of Jackalman. On the heels of our exclusive clip and coverage showing some other surprise characters appearing in the ThunderCats universe, it was our pleasure to pick Mr. Norton's brain about how he and the rest of the team behind the show constructed a Third Earth more dangerous than the characters that live in it.
