Serving the City as ONE – Saturday, April 2, 2011

What is Serving the City as ONE?
Serving the City is an annual event to bring the churches of
Greater Huntsville and the surrounding communities together to visibly demonstrate the love of Christ through united prayer, a day of serving in the community, sharing (food, clothing, blood drive, etc) and celebrating together God’s goodness. Saturday, April 2, 201 will be our city and community-wide day of service.

Last year on Saturday, April 17, 2010 we had 2050 Christians from 45 churches in the greater Huntsville/Madison county area working in over 185 projects with a total impact on 15,000 – 18,000 people in our communities.

The Stated Purposes of Serving the City is to:
  • Allow churches an opportunity to serve the community together
  • Demonstrate the love of Christ
  • Build bridges from the church to the community
  • Meet basic and urgent needs in the city
  • Provide face to face encounters with people in our community
  • Service to the community presents opportunities for sharing Christ
The Demonstration of Christ’s Love
Christ gave us abundant examples of how we should serve with servant hearts in our community. Everywhere he traveled he would serve all of the people he came in contact with. We have numerous biblical commands of Christ which lead Christians to display God’s love through service.

We have four hub sites for Serving the City projects.

   1. The central hub at First Baptist Church, Huntsville on Governors Drive
   2. The Madison hub at CrossPoint Church – led by Madison First of the Nazarene and CrossPoint Church
   3. The north hub at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Winchester
   4. The south and fourth hub will be announced very soon
