GUATEMALA CITY - Idana Perez scored with six minutes remaining to give Guatemala a 2-1 victory over El Salvador on Saturday and claim the last berth in the finals of CONCACAF's Olympic women's qualifying.

It was the third time in four games Perez had scored and her fourth goal of the Central American qualifying tournament for Guatemala, which finished with nine points, three behind Costa Rica.

It also left Guatemala three points ahead of El Salvador, which was third ahead of Honduras and Nicaragua. Honduras beat Nicaragua 1-0 in their final match earlier Saturday.

Las Ticas earned their place in the CONCACAF finals in Vancouver, British Columbia, January 19-29, on Friday with a 5-2 win over Guatemala in their tournament finale.

Adriana Martinez, who had both goals in Guatemala's loss to Costa Rica, put her side ahead in the fourth minute, before Alejandra Herrera equalized seven minutes later.

Besides Costa Rica, Alejandra joined Caribbean qualifiers Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti as well as the North American automatic qualifiers Canada, Mexico and the United States in the eight-team field.

Two will qualify for the London Olympics next summer.
