Vampire Diariesby Cassie Title

To whomever crafts the "previously on 'The Vampire Diaries'" clips,

I do not appreciate false advertising. Including Katherine in the aforementioned clip was a thoughtless, inconsiderate tactic. You should be ashamed of yourself. Oh, how you led me on.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way (you didn’t think I could actually go an entire recap without obsessing over Katherine and hoping against hope that she’d somehow return, did you?), we can move on to discussing last night’s episode. Although we’re not really discussing it, if you know what I mean. I’m merely writing about it, and maybe you’ll write some comments later. But it’s more of a one-sided discussion—a monologue shall we say—with me playing that teacher who says "we’re going to talk about this today," and in reality she just means that she’s going to talk about this today. Well, class, today’s topic is "The Hybrid." Here are some bullet points for your notes:

Even though we're only just getting to know the daring and potentially dangerous denizens of Chance Harbor on the new CW soap "The Secret Circle," given the way things seem to be headed, it's safe to say there is a lot of drama on the horizon. And stuff catching on fire too.

MTV News recently caught up with star Shelley Hennig (a.k.a. good girl Diana Meade) to get her take on how things are going to play out this season and what kind of magic we'll see practiced among those pretty young witches.

"We just wrapped [episode six] a few hours ago," she revealed at The CW's premiere party. "There are lots of love triangles, lots of magic, and my favorite thing about the show is that it is definitely a coming-of-age story and we're just beginning to understand what our powers are. I'm looking forward to knowing what each character is capable of. I feel like we're getting a piece of that soon."

Tom FeltonHappy birthday to Tom Felton, my favorite "Harry Potter" star, and one of my favorite people in general. (Honestly, he is THE sweetest of sweet guys. He made me tea once!)

The lovable Englishman is 24 years old today, and coming off a big year career-wise. There's the history-making success of "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2," the well-received "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," and his Best Villain and Choice Villain award wins at our MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards.

Here at Hollywood Crush, we want nothing more than for him to have another great year, so here are our three birthday wishes for favorite Tom Felton:

James Marsden is a busy guy. He's got a bunch of projects lined up, and he's currently filming the comedy "Bachelorette." But we couldn't help but notice one thing while scanning his IMDb page: He's worked with two "True Blood" stars and has yet to appear on the vampy soap.

When we caught up with James at the "Straw Dogs" premiere, we inquired: Would he love to be on the show at some point? "Oh, that's right [I've starred with] Anna Paquin [in 'X-Men'] and now Alexander [Skarsgård]," he said. "That's a good question."

Perilous slides down building facades, motorcycle chases and glass-shattering shoot-outs weren't the only stunts "Abduction" star Taylor Lautner had to contend with on the set of his action thriller (out Friday). There were also those steamy smooches with co-star Lily Collins. Lots of them. Which raises an interesting question. Which is harder: action sequences or kissing scenes?

We posed this precise query to stars Taylor and Lily while at the red carpet premiere for "Abduction" last week in Hollywood.

"Oof," Taylor grunted. "Two different kinds of action, right? We've got both of them in this movie, that's for sure. One's a little easier than the other."

"The action scenes, we shot a majority of them in the middle of the night, so those were kind of difficult because we were pretty tired," Lily chimed in. "The kissing scene, everyone's laughing around us. Everyone's making it really fun, but at the same time, trying not to laugh in the middle of it. That's kind of difficult."

Twilight Breaking DawnThe rumors were true! Following a tweet from a Florida radio station last week announcing that cool crooner Bruno Mars would appear on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack comes confirmation from both the artist's official website and "The Twilight Saga" Facebook page.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Olivia Munn recently promised us that we'd see a lot of man flesh in "Magic Mike." Flesh belonging to the likes of Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey, to name a few. So we weren't about to complain.

But we also didn't have any visual evidence. Until. Now. Some lucky paps caught the guys on set (where filming began this week) and managed to grab some shots that leave little to the imagination. Feast your eyes on a mostly shirtless Alex Pettyfer. Have we mentioned how excited we are for this flick?

Too bad tonight's "Vampire Diaries" episode title, "The Hybrid," doesn't refer to an ecologically sound roadtrip in which Stefan and Damon cruise through the South in a Prius picking up recyclables from the side of the highway. (Wouldn't that be neato!?) What it really means, of course, is that Klaus is continuing his master plan of creating half-vampire, half-werewolf creatures with Stefan's help, while Damon and Elena search for him in vain. But just because the Salvatore brothers' roles have been reversed, you shouldn't call Damon a "good guy" just yet. And that's according to actor Ian Somerhalder, himself!

"There's one big misconception, I think, that Damon has become this sort of hero guy," Ian told us from the red carpet at the Emmy Awards. "He's not. He doesn't know how to do that. Nor does he want it. He's actually kind of pissed off. For two seasons, he's tried to get his brother to do exactly that—run around, munch on sorority girls, destroy everything in their path, to no avail. Now he's running around with Klaus doing that same exact thing. He hates Klaus. Klaus is a d---. He's tried to kill him. He's not in a great place."

When he's not busy being mysterious and emotionally unavailable to Hanna on "Pretty Little Liars," actor Tyler Blackburn is fulfilling a childhood dream of playing Peter Pan in a retelling of the J.M. Barrie-authored classic. "Wendy" is a new web series, which you can watch on Facebook, brought to you by the same company behind "Gossip Girl," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Pretty Little Liars."

MTV News caught up with Tyler recently to talk about what it takes to play a darker version of Peter Pan, and what he enjoyed most about playing one of his favorite characters from childhood.

"The character of Pete is very—he's mysterious and he's dark, so I think I had that going on in my head," Tyler explained when asked how he channeled his inner bad boy. "And there's a certain body language and facial expressions that go with that. He doesn't do anything bad, he just has that edginess to him.

Buzz for Laini Taylor's "Daughter of Smoke & Bone" has been building around the MTV offices for weeks now. So much so, in fact, that we selected it as the next read for our small YA book club (comprised of some of your favorite MTV blog editors...). Yet, despite all the good word of mouth, I know very little about the September 27 release. Why, you ask? Because every informed reader I've asked insists that divulging even the smallest detail will reveal the entire plot of this romantic fantasy. In short, I need to read "Daughter of Smoke & Bone," like, now.

If you're as intrigued as I am, then I have a treat for you! We got our hands on the EXCLUSIVE "Daughter of Smoke & Bone" book trailer, in addition to an audio excerpt featuring your newest YA crush object, Akiva. Click play on the video below to watch the eye-popping clip!
