NY and Washington, aware of potential al-Qaida threat on eve of 9/11 anniversary, but unafraid

Intelligence officials scrambled Friday to nail down information on a possible al-Qaida strike timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The Chicago Teachers Union filed an unfair labor practice complaint to block schools from signing waivers and lengthening class days as a fifth school voted to extend its day.

A Berwyn mother is being investigated by police and child welfare authorities after her 14-year-old son died from pneumonia and officials found the family home overrun by animals, authorities said.
