…And with last night’s episode, Archer cements its place as one of the funniest TV shows on all time. Seriously, I don’t think there’s been a show on the boob tube since Arrested Development that’s been so consistently packed to the brim with non-stop jokes and plot development, while making the whole thing feel like a delightful breeze. Point being: we’re glad its back.
Sadly, the show is only back for a three episode mini-season – essentially a TV movie split into three parts. And, it’s way more plot heavy than usually, picking up directly after the climactic events of last season. The episode caught new viewers up to this pretty quickly, but basically super-spy Sterling Archer had his true love murdered in front of him by his arch enemy Barry (who is now a cyborg, a confusing plot point we’re going to ignore for the moment).
Archer deals with the events the only way he can: running away to a tropical island, growing a beard, and banging newlyweds on their honeymoon. Naturally, his mother – the head of ISIS, the semi-incompetent spy organization for hire at the center of of the show – isn’t having any of that. She sends a former ISIS agent named Rip Riley (voiced by Patrick Warburton) after him in a sea-plane, in order to bring Archer home. Things don’t go exactly as planned.
First, Archer hits Riley in the face with a broken bottle. Then, after capturing Riley mid-flight, Archer neglects to understand what an auto-pilot is, leading to the plane running out of fuel (turns out, the auto-pilot doesn’t know how to land itself at a refueling station). Crashing in the water, Archer achieves two personal records – breath holding, and number of sharks shot in the face – and then promptly gets the duo captured by pirates. And then Archer becomes the king of the pirates.

Finally, Young Justice is about to start airing new episodes on Cartoon Network! It's been far too long since Aqualad, Robin, Artemis, and the rest of the team have been on our screens, fighting evil and whining about the hardships of growing up...or being a clone.
"Targets" is the latest episode and sees a peace agreement between North and South Korea Rhelasia being brokered by none other than Lex Luthor. However, a couple of hired assassins have other plans in mind with only Red Arrow reluctantly standing between them and Lex's bald visage. Also, Miss Martian and Superboy go to their first day of school. Yep.

Batman: The Brave & The Bold is going out with a bang! With the final episodes are airing on Cartoon Network, a superhero-shaped void will be left in our hearts and our eyes will no longer be able to take in the antics of Batman and his cohorts-- fighting crime and singing songs! MTV Geek was lucky enough to talk with James Tucker, producer and lead character designer on Batman: B&B, about the past and future of our favorite bat-centric cartoon!
MTV Geek: Besides Batman, who's been your favorite character to work on for the show?
James Tucker: Aquaman would be the obvious choice, but the Spectre is one I'm really glad we got the chance to put in, because we never got to do it when I was on Justice League. Typically, the characters we wanted to use but could never figure out how to use on Justice League are the ones that I tend to gravitate towards. But, Aquaman is my favorite character to really answer your question. [Laughs] I'm also glad we finally put Wonder Woman on the show and she'll be in the teaser for this upcoming episode "Scorn of the Star Sapphire".

Young Justice is about to start it's new season very soon on Cartoon Network, and we are very excited to see what's coming up. In our opinion, YJ is second only to ThunderCats when it comes to current American animated series, and takes top spot over previous beloved DC animated shows (Scream at us in the comments section JLU fans!). The character interactions, dynamic stories, and big-name guest appearances have made Young Justice into a show that is not to be missed. In honor of the upcoming season, we've put together some of our videos from this year's San Diego Comic Con to satiate your appetites of teens in tights. Wait, that sounded creepier than we meant it to...
With September come the first hints of autumn: school is back in session, the leaves are turning red and orange, and more importantly, there’s TV that needs a watchin’! Here’s MTV Geek’s round-up of the nerd-tastic programs you’ll be watching (and DVRing [and downloading]) this Fall:
Premieres On: Thursday, September 15th at 10:30pm on FX
Why We’re Geeked: FX’s ridiculously, laugh out loud hilarious spy spoof has only gotten funnier and more complex over the course of the past two seasons. Like Arrested Development set in the CIA – but way more violent – the show returns for a sadly brief three episode run, before delivering another thirteen episodes in January.
Premieres On: Thursday, October 27th at 10pm on MTV
Why We’re Geeked: Yes, corporate synergy, blah, blah, blah, but Beavis and Butt-Head is at the top of any TV list, not just animated. We’ve missed their sickering, their snark, and most of all, the Great Cornholio. The first few clips have shown that even though decades have passed, B&B haven’t gotten any more mature. Read more...

I feel that before getting too far into my review of this seven episode set--containing the origin adventure of the "Lion Force" team--I should note that the Anime Works (formerly Media Blasters) Voltron sets from about five years ago are still available,* and may represent a slightly better value for fans and completionists. You see, although Voltron: The Legend Begins likely has higher visual quality, the Anime Works sets contain double the episodes for about half the money. I won't make any kind of full-throated endorsement for the earlier release, not having seen it, but I'm just saying it's out there. [Edit: Hm, it looks like there might be a "buyer beware" situation with the Media Blasters sets, which may contain discs with a defect that cause them to wobble in DVD players.]
That's not to say the disc under consideration today from World Events Productions and Classic Media is exactly a slouch. Returning Voltron to DVD, the two outfits have put together a decent package, albeit one with a couple of curious presentation choices.
