Wolverine trains a robot to box. That in a nutshell is the plot of Dreamworks' upcoming film Reel Steel, and that's plenty for us! Sure, Hugh Jackman is playing an ex-boxer in the film, but now when we see him in a movie we can't help but hope he'll end up popping some claws and going on a rampage. While Jakks Pacific hasn't released any news on toys of the human characters from the film, there are gonna be lots of robots and here are some pics and info straight from Jakks themselves!

Avast ye landlubbers and take a gander at this review for Jakks Pacific’s Jack Sparrow action figure from their Pirates of the Caribbean 4 line of toys! As you can tell, this review called for the pirate mindest… so we just guzzled a bunch of rum and called it a day. *Hic* Johnny Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for the film and thus guaranteed his immortality in plastic. Not only that, but Jakks also included one of the coolest gimmicks we can think of – and we can think of a lot. On May 20th, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sails its incredibly long title into theaters, but for now let’s look at this toy starting with the backstory from a recent Disney press release:

Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penélope Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love—or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hits theaters on May 20th, and Jakks Pacific is going to make sure you have all of the no-good scoundrels you can handle in toy form!  From the stumbling bravery of Jack Sparrow to the intimidating badassery of Blackbeard, the entire main cast is present and accounted for. The 4” line of figures that feature Blacklight Reveal and a massive playset (in the form of The Queen Anne’s Revenge ship) is just one of the many plans to capitalize on the masses lust of all things “pirate” that Jakks has in store.

While touring the Jakks Pacific showroom, we were surprised to find out that the upcoming 6” collector line has been outfitted with the age-old fan favorite: The Build-A-Figure! Yes, you read that right – if you snatch up the entire series of 6 inchers, you can build a full-sized figure of Gunner. While we’re not quite sure what kind of role Gunner plays in the film, he looks like one tough s.o.b.!

We recently talked with Andrew Kovall, National Sales Manager for Jakks Pacific, about the upcoming lines and why the Blacklight Reveal feature is not to be missed:

On the night of February 1st, Disney Consumer Products held a release party, in New York City, to celebrate the upcoming toys based on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Jakks Pacific has scored the rights to make action figures from the film, and it just so happens they were unveiled at this very event! Are there pictures of these swashbuckling toys? You bet there are! In fact, were about to unleash the release dates and pictures for both the 4 inch line and 6 inch collector line! First though, we thought you’d like to see a toy your NEVER gonna get, cause we’re jerks like that sometimes.

During the Disney event, Ian McShane, who plays Blackbeard (and will always live in our hearts as the ass-kicking brothel-owner on Deadwood), was presented by Jakks Pacific with a one-of-a-kind 12” figure of himself!

Also, if you notice behind Ian, and his small doppleganger, there is a life-size Jack Sparrow statue built out of over 150,000 Lego bricks! Read more...

Nothing seems to get the blood pumping like a good old fashioned beat ‘em up, and Jakks Pacific is making sure your toy collection stays stocked with the best ass-kickers in the business! Whether you like a little flash and drama with your fighting, or gritty bloodbaths requiring expert timing and skill; the fine folks at Jakks have got you covered. Both TNA (Total Non-Stop Action) Wrestling, and the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) are represented in all their gladiatorial action figure glory! Why would we here at MTV Geek be hyping these toys? Well, why not?! Pro wrestlers wear just as much spandex as the average superhero, and those UFC figures feature some of the best articulation of any mass market line. That’s the simple truth. You want REALLY good reasons though? Okay then. First, Tito Ortiz makes his toy debut in UFC Wave 6; so, now you can have He-man beat the living hell out of him! That’ll shut his bragging right up! Second, the thought of Sharkboy hitting Aquaman in the face with a folding chair makes us way, WAY more excited than we possibly have a right to be!

Here are all the neck-breaking details straight from Jakks Pacific themselves: Read more...
