NanoPhotonics

The NanoPhotonics Flagship addresses photonic materials and devices based on nanotechnology. Novel nanotechnological methods allow a further miniaturization of optical devices.

In addition, nanotechnology allows to develop new functional materials with well designed properties. In the Netherlands, eight research institutes with a high reputation in photonics have joint their activities in this program.

Together, these institutes focus within NanoPhotonics on two themes:
  • Nanoscale energy transfer- memories/switches
  • Photonic signal processing

This focused research effort will lead to new knowledge, concepts and intellectual property (patents), novel materials or material combinations, new fabrication technologies and methods and prototype optical devices.
