PEJ Study Looks At Hispanic Media, Including Radio
Study
A report on Hispanic media by the PEW RESEARCH CENTER's PROJECT FOR EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM notes the growth in Spanish-language radio in AMERICA as "in the last year, Spanish-language media tended to fare better overall than their mainstream English-language counterparts."
On radio, the report notes an 8% increase in Spanish-language stations to 1,323 but adds that only 96 of those are in News-Talk formats (up by three from the previous year). The ... more »

CITADEL Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO will continue as the CHICAGO affiliate for NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY football and men's basketball, reports the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
The deal is a three-year extension running through the 2013-14 men's basketball season. WLS will carry all football games and at least 25 men's basketball games plus postseason games.

The NEW YORK POST's PAGE SIX gossip column reports that PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS' GLENN BECK is following through on his move to TEXAS, purchasing a ranch in BOSQUE COUNTY, near FORT WORTH.
The POST's characterization of BOSQUE COUNTY as a "backwater" drew derision from the DALLAS MORNING NEWS' BRUCE TOMASO, who joked that BECK will "saddle up his paint mare each morning at sunrise, pack some dried beef and corn-meal biscuits, and ride in from the backwater -- keeping a sharp eye peeled, of course, for rattlesnakes, stagecoach robbers and Comanche warriors."

ROLL CALL is reporting that COX MEDIA GROUP Talk WXKT/GAINESVILLE, GA host MARTHA ZOLLER is "seriously considering" running for Congress. ZOLLER would be a Republican candidate in GEORGIA's new 9th Congressional District and told ROLL CALL, "We'll be making an announcement, one way or another, in a couple of weeks."

Paper Gets Court To Unseal Records Of Paul Finebaum's Suit Against Citadel
The BIRMINGHAM BUSINESS JOURNAL has succeeded in having an ALABAMA court unseal the records of PAUL FINEBAUM's suit against his employer, CITADEL BROADCASTING.
FINEBAUM, the syndicated sports talker based at CITADEL Sports WJOX/BIRMINGHAM, filed two suits in JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL that were transferred to ALABAMA Northern District Court, where they remained sealed until TODAY, when the court agreed to unseal the case and gave the parties until noon (CT) FRIDAY to redact the documents. The sealing prevented the public and press from finding out the basis for FINEBAUM's suit and the remedies sought.

CLEAR CHANNEL ASHEVILLE traffic reporter "CAPTAIN JEFF" AUGRAM has exited the cluster. AUGRAM, who was heard on Talk WWNC-A, AC WMYI (MY 102.5) and Country WKSF (99.9 KISS COUNTRY), was replaced by reports from CLEAR CHANNEL's TOTAL TRAFFIC.
On a FACEBOOK page established by his son, AUGRAM wrote on AUGUST 10th, "I've been trying to process a 10-minute meeting that did away with 23 years of what I always approached as giving back to our community. I'm still numb and bummed." He later wrote, "Being an independent in the big corporate world just doesn't cut it anymore."
