A LONG TERM COMMITMENT
We are committed to sourcing all our tea in a sustainable way. As a company with over a hundred years of tea experience, we know the importance of sustainability.
It’s a philosophy of respect, one that takes the long view of Time so that tea can continue to be grown and harvested for the enjoyment of generations to come. At the same time, as the largest tea brand in the world, we realize that complete social, environmental and economical sustainability cannot be achieved overnight. Given the scope of this ambition we have to take a step-by-step approach.
As a first step, we have asked the Rainforest Alliance to certify the Lipton Tea Gardens in Kericho, Kenya. Since we buy tea from other suppliers as well, we have asked them to become certified as well. We are committed to source all the tea used in Lipton Yellow Label tea bags in Western Europe from Rainforest Alliance certified farms by 2010.
We intend to extend Rainforest Alliance certification to all Lipton tea bags globally by 2015.
