Orlando Bloom, Colin Firth Try Their Best Southern Accents

just now

Give the director credit for thinking outside the box, at least.

Searching for leads in the upcoming small town Southern film, "Main Street," director John Doyle and crew needed two male leads. So, they went to two of the top British stars of the day. Naturally. Oscar-winner Colin Firth and Orlando Bloom star in the upcoming feel good indie, with Bloom playing a mustachioed cop and Firth a well meaning businessman.

Also, it's not the only upcoming movie that features Bloom with fantastic lip fur.

Co-staring are Patricia Clarkson, Ellen Burstyn and Amber Tamblyn, quite the cast for a small indie that hits Video on Demand on August 5th, more than a month than its September 9th street date.

Here's the official synopsis:

Several residents of a small Southern city whose lives are changed by the arrival of a stranger with a controversial plan to save their decaying hometown. In »

Dave Chappelle Is Forgiven By Seminole Indians

just now

It's hard pressure, being a comedian -- and sometimes, the cracks show.

Performing at a charity event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida Friday night, Dave Chappelle appeared distracted and delivered a dazed, indifferent set that included 46 minutes of awkward silence... and just one joke. According to TMZ, which has recorded footage of the incident, the unfunny began when the jokester indulged in idle banter with front-row fans who were recording him, then began casually texting from his phone while pacing around on stage and shrugging off boos.

But a more contrite Chappelle appeared again the next day, apologizing sincerely for the "wild night" and giving a shout-out to the Seminole Indians who had sponsored the show.

The latter group are a bit easier to please than shakes-and-whistles crowd on Friday, apparently. In a statement to TMZ, a spokesperson said:

Rihanna's 'S&M' Lawsuit Heats Up

Teeming with gag-balls, whips and a lot of leather, Rihanna's video, 'S&M,' was bound to get our attention.

But perhaps not this much. When the salacious video was released, it received immediate backlash--some because of its controversial subject and others because of its artistic vision and execution.

Photographer David Lachapelle, whose work has appeared in various fashion and music magazines, sued the R&B star this February for allegedly copying his work in her video. Lachappelle said that this infraction occurred eight times throughout the course of the video.

Despite their similarities, pinning copy right infringement to the somewhat ineffable qualities of "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting" of the video is no easy case.

Lucky for Lachapelle, he's now made it passed the first round of legal bureaucracy. New York Judge Shira Scheindlin finds the photographer's claims sufficient to support a charge of copying. »

Mariah Carey Opens Up About Twins

Mariah Carey has stayed pretty mum about her twins since giving birth in April, but the singer decided to give away some tidbits about life with newborns and her never-ending pregnancy while promoting her jewelry line on Hsn Sunday night.

She references her short nails -- "I cut my nails really [short] ... for the babies" -- and reveals that her pregnancy was not always butterflies and rainbows.

"February was bleak for me," she said. "I was so uncomfortable."

After months of speculation, Carey and husband Nick Cannon announced they were expecting twins last December. They welcomed son, Moroccan, and daughter, Monroe, on April 30.

"[Being] pregnant with twins is different than anything," she continued. "...They were always saying to me, 'Oh but it's so worth it,' and I'm like, 'Yeah, that's easy for you to say when you're not the one whose feet are [so] big.' ... It turned into a really difficult time. »

James Franco: Back To 'General Hospital'

He'll be back.

James Franco will reprise his killer role on 'General Hospital' this fall, TV Guide exclusively confirms. He'll be back on the daytime soap for a "longterm" storyline, meaning we'll have lots of Franco to enjoy this fall and possibly beyond.

Frano first appeared on the soap back in 2009 as a serial killer, aptly named Robert "Franco" Frank, during a two-month story arc.

'Gh' executive producer Jill Farren Phelps said it was "an honor that an actor of Franco's caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles" when Franco first signed on for the role.

The Academy Award-nominated actor said his decision to guest star on the soap opera was all part of an art-imitating-life film he's working on.

Art film or not, people seem to love seeing the Oscar host in Port Charles. Franco reprised his role in February, just »

The Star Cast Member Definitely Out At 'Glee'

Take this with a Sue Sylvester's ego-sized grain of salt, but, amidst all the head fakes and take-backs and graduation-induced confusion it seems that there's at least one definitely departure from "Glee," and it's the one that started the whole drama in the first place.

At Sunday's Comic-Con panel, co-creator/executive producer Brad Falchuk assured the crowd that, despite Ryan Murphy's statements that seniors-to-be Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith would graduate and leave the show, they wouldn't be going anywhere. Not so much for Chord Overstreet, who has decided to exit stage right.

Of course, it's not that simple; Overstreet's fate has been its own saga.

Back in the beginning of July, it was announced that series newbie Darren Criss would be promoted to series regular, but Overstreet would not get the bump. After much fan consternation, a source from the show said that Overstreet was still »

Don't you think you're a little old for a side-sweep, Ben? Even Bieber has grown out of it.

Mary J. Blige on Past Addiction: 'I Could See My Death'

In an episode of "Behind the Music" that aired Sunday night on VH1, singer Mary J. Blige opened up about the problems in her past and her struggles with childhood molestation, addiction and alcoholism.

"When I was five years old I was molested," she said in one of the most revealing interviews of her career. "I remember feeling, literally, right before it happened, I just could not believe that this person was going to do this to me. That thing followed me all my life. The shame of thinking my molestation was my fault. It led me to believe I wasn't worth anything."

In addition to talking about her past sexual abuse, the "Rock of Ages" star also opened up about her struggle with alcoholism. "It was bigger than me. And it was definitely going to kill me. So I was like, this is it and let's go. And I remember sitting on my bed. »

Amy Winehouse Albums Soar On The Charts

Almost immediately following her tragic death last week, Amy Winehouse's albums have begun tearing up the music charts in America, Canada and the UK.

As of Monday morning, "Back to Black" had hit number one on the iTunes charts, with thousands of new downloads, and "Back to Black: B-Sides" had also landed in the top ten.

Perhaps ironically, the album that Winehouse's "Black" replaced on the iTunes chart was Adele's "21." On Monday, Adele wrote an extensive blog post about Winehouse's legacy, noting that the troubled singer had "paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about british music again."

Though the full effect of the spike in sales won't be made clear until next week, "Back to Black" already made an impression on the physical UK album charts, jumping to number 59 in only two days -- a 299% increase in sales.

Continuing the trend of Hollywood bringing its all to San Diego, "Cowboys & Aliens" premiered at Comic-Con to rave reviews, reports E!. Meanwhile, The Daily Mail notes that the star of the upcoming "Spider-Man" film Andrew Garfield, who donned a cheesy Spider-Man costume for a panel, was seen looking at a piece of paper that resembled a contract -- perhaps confirming that he was legally obligated to wear the suit.

Director Francis Ford Coppola conducted a rather unorthodox panel for his new horror film, "Twixt." The La Times reports: "the director moderated his own panel, distributed paper masks of Edgar Allan Poe and sang along with footage."

Amy Winehouse Autopsy Results Revealed

The cause of Amy Winehouse's death will remain a mystery for at least another fortnight as autopsy results found Monday were inconclusive.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Metropolitan Police will investigate her death, which was given a "Section 20" postmortem, which means they have reason to believe the death was violent or suspicious. That being said, it was earlier Monday reported that police did not find any reason for suspicion.

The inquest, as the investigation is known, is being closed until October 26th so that investigators can look into the death; toxicology test results are expected in 2-4 weeks.

On Sunday, the Mirror reported that Winehouse had been on a weeks-long bender and that friends claimed she died from a cocktail of alcohol and ecstasy; whether that is true remains to be seen. Her mother Janice, who saw Winehouse just the day before she died, said that she seemed »

Blake Fielder-Civil: Devastated Over Amy's Death

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil is reportedly inconsolable after learning that the singer passed away over the weekend.

"Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can't believe she's dead," he said in a statement Sunday.

According to The Sun, Fielder-Civil is currently serving a 32-month sentence in Leeds' Armley Jail for burglary and a firearm offense.

It's no secret that Field-Civil and Winehouse had a tumultuous, drug-fueled relationship. The pair was married in 2007 but split two years later. In 2009, Fielder-Civil spoke to the Mail Online about witnessing Winehouse almost overdose on heroin and crack.

"I held her to me -- and I thought she was dying in my arms... I couldn't bear for her to die in front of me," he said at the time.

Fielder-Civil reportedly collapsed after hearing news of her untimely death.

Jon Hamm Grabs New TV Starring Role!

Jon Hamm is nominated for an Emmy once again for his dramatic turn as Don Draper on "Mad Men," but he's shown that he can be a flat out comedy star, too. With his various guest appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and supporting role as Kristen Wiig's jerky non-boyfriend in "Bridesmaids," he's established a reputation as a promising funnyman, and now, he's got a brand new TV role to flex that humor muscle.

IFC today announced that Hamm has joined their series, "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret," a goofball comedy starring David Cross as a mailroom loser who fakes his way into running an energy drink company in England -- thanks to the equal incompetence of his bizarre CEO, played by "Arrested Development" co-star Will Arnett.

No role has been announced, but it will air starting in January, just as the fifth season of "Mad Men" kicks off. »

Justin Timberlake Dresses Up As Ernie

There were scores of outlandish costumes and cosplay outfits at Comic Con this past week, but Justin Timberlake may have trumped them all: dressed up as Ernie from Sesame Street. The catch? Nobody knew it was Jt -- not until the next day.

The perennial jokester, at the San Diego convention to promote his new movie In Time, purportedly strolled around incognito Thursday as the beloved orange-faced children's character along with Esquire writer Chris Jones, who accompanied him as Bert. According to Jones, who is working on a profile of the actor-singer for the magazine, the idea was all Timberlake's, who thought that "Bert and Ernie made for better bonding" than Elmo and the Cookie Monster, which were also available.

Under the Twitter handle MySecondEmpire, Jones tweeted:

If you were at Comic-Con yesterday, and you took a picture with a sketchy Bert and Ernie... I was Bert. Justin Timberlake was Ernie. »

Lea Michele hit a high note, flaunting her bikini body on the beaches of Hawaii with boyfriend, Theo Stockman recently.

The "Glee" star is taking a break from her busy work schedule for a little vacation time in paradise. She tweeted, "Taking this hiatus to the next level! Enjoying some serious sun & sand & relaxation in one of the most beautiful places in the world:)."

She has been documenting her trip to the Hawaiian islands with her beau via Twitter, sharing photos of her tropical adventures. "Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?? :)," she asked including a photo of the sunset.

Michele has found her name in the headlines quite often recently, with the fate of Rachel Berry still up in the air. What's Next For Steve Carell After 'The Office'?

New York — Steve Carell is not going through Michael Scott withdrawal – at least not yet.

"I don't sit at home and think of `that's what she said' jokes and wish that I could do them one more time," says the actor, laughing. "But it's only been a few months, too, so I haven't really had any time. All of that is still fresh to me."

Carell's sendoff from "The Office" (for which he received a parting Emmy nomination) is still fresh in many viewers' minds, too. The emotional hubbub over his exit after seven seasons caught Carell by surprise. He was flattered, he says, but, with typical humility, considers it "just an actor leaving a show."

He moved on to spend more time with his family (wife and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Nancy Ellen Walls and their two children) and to expand the movie career he had previously »

The fairytale romance between the TV star and the quarterback has ended in a last minute interception.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has called off his engagement from former "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari, People Magazine reports.

"She got dumped," a source tells the magazine. She's absolutely devastated. She can't believe this is happening."

The pair got engaged in April after just ten months of dating; word about their relationship first came out in September, though at the time, Cutler insisted that they were just sharing a meal when they were spotted dining together.

"I find it funny," Cutler told the Chicago Sun-Times. "That stuff, you just have to laugh about. »
