How To Return

Return Mailing Labels

Pre-paid shipping labels are available for items shipped by Amazon.com within the United States. You can use our Online Returns Center to get this return mailing label. Visit International Returns if you need to return an item from outside the United States.

You can pack and send your return in just a few simple steps:

  1. Visit our Online Returns Center and obtain a return mailing label and return mailing authorization.
  2. Pack the items and return mailing authorization securely in a box or the package used to deliver the item.
  3. Secure the return mailing label to the outside of the box (clear tape is usually best).
  4. Drop the package off at your designated carrier's location.

Each return mailing label is uniquely assigned to a specific return. In order to ensure that you receive the correct refund, please do not include items from other orders or other shipments in the same box. Every shipment must be returned using a separate mailing label.

Return shipping costs may be deducted from your refund depending on the reason for return. Visit Calculating Refund Amounts for more information.

Replacements & Exchanges

Exchanges

If you received a defective item and need to exchange it for the same item, visit our Online Returns Center to request a replacement.

If you would like to exchange an item for a different one, visit our Online Return Center to return the original item and place a new order for the item you'd like to purchase.

Damaged Items

If you receive an item that was damaged, visit our Online Returns Center and choose "Return an Item." At that time, you can tell us if you want a refund or replacement.

If you feel your item was damaged due to poor packaging, please let us know by submitting feedback about the packaging.

Defective Items

If your item isn't working properly, please check the product manual (which arrived with the item) and the Amazon.com detail page for the product. You can usually find troubleshooting and "getting started" information there. If you need additional assistance, you need to request missing pieces or replacement parts, or you need warranty information, please contact the product's manufacturer directly.

If you're unable to resolve the problem after contacting the manufacturer, go to the Product Specific Policies page and click on the product type to find more information about receiving a replacement or returning your item for a refund.

Wrong Items

If you receive a wrong item, please contact us.

Tracking a Return

You can view completed returns at the bottom of the order's summary page in Your Account. You can also track the status of your return shipment using the tracking number from your return mailing label.

  1. Go to the Online Returns Center.
  2. Select "Retrieve an existing return label." A list of your existing return labels will appear there.
  3. Click "Track Package."

Gift Returns

Gift returns are confidential.

The Online Returns Center allows gift recipients and gift givers to return items sold and shipped by Amazon.com, even if the order wasn't marked as a gift when it was purchased. The type of refund or credit you receive depends on how the gift was purchased and how it's returned.

Once your return is processed, we'll send an Amazon.com Gift Card in the amount of the returned item(s) to the e-mail address you enter on the Online Returns Center form. If you're the gift giver, you'll receive a refund to the original payment method. You'll need the order number to complete the returns process; this can be found on the packing slip. If you don't have an order number, please contact us.

Items That Can't Be Returned

Amazon.com does not accept returns of the following items:

  • Items that are classified as hazardous materials or use flammable liquids or gases
  • Computer laptops, desktops, and Kindles more than 30 days after delivery
  • Any product missing the serial number or UPC
  • Downloadable software products
  • Gift cards
  • Pay As You Go (or prepaid) phone cards
  • Prepaid game cards (World of Warcraft, Xbox 360 Live, Wii Points, etc.)
  • Items purchased from sellers other than Amazon.com
  • Some Jewelry orders (Learn more)
  • Some Health & Personal Care items (Learn more)
  • Grocery products (Learn more)

International Returns

Please visit our Online Returns Center to get a return mailing label for your order. Send the original item back to us via an economical method and, if the return was the result of our error, we'll reimburse you for the shipping costs once we receive it back.

If your original order was placed using the Amazon Currency Converter, the refund will be issued in your local currency and will be calculated with the same rate used when you placed your order.
