Australian parliamentary delegation visits Clea Salavert Library
On 10 August 2011 a delegation of Australian Parliamentarians visited the Clea Salavert Library in Lalomanu, Samoa to see first-hand the facilities enabled by the generous donations of Academy Fellows and friends and colleagues of the Salavert family. The Academy is grateful to the Australian Government for their continuous encouragement and support of the Clea Salavert Library.
Fellows Shortlisted for Literary Awards
The Academy congratulates two of its Fellows, shortlisted for the
Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards
: historian Tim Bonyhady for
Good Living Street: The Fortunes of My Viennese Family
, and poet John Tranter for
Starlight: 150 poems

New Collaboration with Italy
The Academy has signed a new agreement with the
Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei
which paves the way for a research exchange programme between the two countries.
On 8 June 2011 a memorandum of understanding was signed by Professor Joseph Lo Bianco, President of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and Professor Alberto Quadrio Curzio, Vice Presidente of the Lincei. We are very grateful to the

for brokering this collaboration.
Calibre Prize for an Outstanding Essay 2012
Australian Book Review
is now also calling for entries in the sixth
Calibre Prize for an Outstanding Essay
. Calibre is a peak award for the essay in Australia, and worth $10,000 in total. Applications close 1 December 2011.
ABR Sidney Myer Fund Fellowship
Australian Book Review
has just announced the
ABR
Sidney Myer Fund Fellowship
– a $5000 commission for a substantial article with an Indigenous focus. Applications close 15 October 2011.
