Center for Health and Aging (CHA)
The mission of the Center for Health and Aging (CHA) is to facilitate dialogue between science, industry, and policy for a healthier world. Toward this end, CHA coordinates innovative research and dialogue on the demographic, economic, social, political, and medical trends related to health and aging across the globe.
History
Founded by Michael Birt and currently led by Claire Topal, the Center for Health and Aging has tackled a wide variety of projects and initiatives including the Pacific Health Summit, the world's premier global health meeting. In addition to the Summit, CHA has organized major meetings in Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, London, and Washington, DC and has served a unique role in bringing together leaders from science, industry, medicine, public health, and government to focus on the world’s most important health challenges. In conjunction with our role as a "trusted convener," CHA has built a library of case studies, white papers, and briefing documents that have informed crucial discussions among the world’s leaders in both the public and private sectors.
Impact
"People will leave here with an action item…. Things happen."
- David Boyd, Director of European Government & Public Affairs at GE Healthcare, commenting on the Pacific Health Summit
CHA seeks to strengthen U.S. policy in Asia through efforts to impact the global health discussion on various topics of critical importance and through work surrounding health risks related to aging. CHA convenes high-level meetings and coordinates innovative research that brings together top leaders in order to yield tangible results and collaborations. In addition, CHA seeks to make an impact through a variety of path-breaking publications and briefing materials.
