The South Suburban Association Chiefs of Police (SSACOP), requested the assistance of the Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Corrections and the Illinois Attorney General‘s Office of Investigations to participate in a joint enforcement initiative focusing on outstanding warrants and non-compliant parole/sex offenders. Here’s a few from my day with two of Orland Hills finest and their team.

A crazy storm front came through the city today. Lucky only a small bit of rain came with it. I think the worst was to the north.

I got to do a travel story with the Chicago Tribune travel and beer writer, Josh Noel. We drove up and around Lake Michigan hitting up brewery’s along the coast. Here’s what ran in the Sunday Magazine. And here’s a link to the story.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ed Port. He has an amazing outlook on life. Even with his condition he sees the good in the world.
CAPTION: Ed Port, 41, of Austintown, Ohio, suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes benign tumors to grow on the ends of nerves. Port recently had his 22nd surgery of his life and first of possibly three surgeries at St. Joseph Hospital. “It hasn’t been easy,” Port said. “There’s always hope for a better tomorrow and a better future.”
Here’s a link to our story.

I made my way up to Michigan last week and spent a few hours at Camp Echo for a story. Had an awesome time! It reminded me of my time in Indian Guides and made me miss my youth.
