Mets Unveil Asian, Korean and Chinese Food Samples at CitiField World’s Fair Market

Before the Mets took the field against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night September 21 the New York Mets unveiled a new food delight at CitiField.  Mets Vice President David Newman was joined by Flushing BID Executive Director, Mabel Law, Councilman John Liu and leaders from the Korean American Association of Queens and the Chinese American Business Association of Queens to cut the ribbon to officially open the new Korean and Japanese foot court at the Worlds Fair Food Market located on the field level in right field.

Councilman John Liu added. “Today the Mets are showcasing a series of foods displays here at CitiField where they are bringing some of the best flavors from downtown Flushing right into the stadium. And it is really a mark of things to come.”

Mabel Law, Executive Director of Flushing BID helped coordinate the project with Mets Vice President David Newman. “We are debuting some amazing food tonight,” said Ms. Law. “Something that goes hand in hand with baseball the American past time. And that’s dumplings, some Korean fried chicken, a Bulgogi Rice Bowl, some egg custard and spring rolls that you can find in Flushing.” She went on to say, “we some amazing, Asian, Chinese and Korean food that we are debuting with our partners, The Mets and their food service provider Aramark, the Flushing Business Improvement District and with our other cultural and business associations. The Korean American Association of Queens and Flushing Chinese Business Association to expand the multi cultural cuisine and family entertainment aspect that is here at Citi Field.”

Mets Vice President Dave Newman added, “Dan are working with the Flushing BID. We have been finally been able to offer our fans coming to our games the opportunity to sample some of Flushing’s finest offerings from the Tai Pan Bakery. We look at it as the first step in what we hope will be broader offerings.

 We were invited to sample the Asian and Korean food in the new World’s Fair Market and found the samples to be outstanding, worthy of some of the finest restaurants in News York City.

 Our readers are invited to either come on down to one of the Mets remaining home games at Cit Field to sample the food or visit one of the many outstanding Asian, Korean or Chinese restaurants in downtown Flushing just a few minutes from where you picked up our newspaper.
