LSU’s Flores MBA Program ranks seventh in nation in Wall Street Journal

September 17, 2007 —For a second consecutive year, the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Flores MBA Program has been ranked in the nation’s top 10 by the Wall Street Journal among schools that draw corporate recruiters regionally. After debuting in the rankings at ninth last year, the program gained momentum and was ranked seventh this time around.

The ranking means that LSU is nationally recognized as one of the top 10 schools in the nation for attracting corporate MBA recruiters who recruit regionally. LSU was one of the highest rated schools along with Brigham Young University, Wake Forest University, Ohio State University, the University of Rochester, Indiana University and the University of Florida. The Wall Street Journal article divided the rankings into three categories – Regional, National and International – based on where recruiters tend to recruit.

“This truly speaks to the quality of students the Flores MBA Program and the E. J. Ourso College of Business in general are producing,” said LSU Chancellor Sean O’Keefe. “Once again this program has not only improved itself in the eyes of recruiters from large, multinational companies, it has overwhelmingly impressed them. The accolades that the E. J. Ourso College continues to receive are further evidence that LSU's National Flagship Agenda is working.”

Since 2001, the Wall Street Journal and Harris Interactive have continued to team up to track the opinions and experiences of corporate recruiters. The Wall Street Journal / Harris Interactive Business School Survey is the only available benchmarking study that assists business schools in understanding the needs of corporate recruiters in order to improve relationships between the two parties.

“We are extremely pleased to see the Wall Street Journal / Harris Poll rankings for the Flores MBA Program,” said William Lane, interim dean of the E. J. Ourso College. “This ranking is especially important because it is based on regional corporate recruiters' perceptions of our graduates, and indicates that these recruiters recognize the value our students bring to their firms. Like most successes, this ranking is the result of a team effort, and on behalf of the College I thank all those who had a hand in its realization.”

The schools included in the study are rated on 21 key attributes by recruiters who deal with the school directly. The programs within these schools were ranked based on communication ability, integrity, and success with past hires and leadership potential.

“We are extremely pleased to receive the number seven ranking in the Wall Street Journal,” said David Crary, director of the Flores MBA Program. “This recognition is a reflection of the hard work of the faculty, the quality of our students and alumni, and the vital support provided by our staff.”
