The N'DIGO Foundation Gala was a Tribute to Men and featured a powerful concert by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds at Symphony Center. The 10-time Grammy winner, along with a four-piece band that included his brother Kevon Edmonds, brought the crowd to its feet.
This 16th annual event was attended by 1,200 people. The foundation has awarded 250 college scholarships to top-performing students over the years. It also recognizes leaders excelling in their careers. Honorees this year included Robert Michael Franklin, Morehouse College president; the Rev. Charles Jenkins, pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church; Les Coney, Mesirow Financial executive; ABC-Ch. 7's Charles Thomas (introduced by emcee Art Norman); eta Creative Arts Foundation's Runako Jahi (who mentored Jennifer Hudson's acting career); and Northeastern University professor Conrad Worrill.
N'DIGO magazine Publisher Hermene Hartman said, "We have three generations of students who have received scholarships and have graduated to make a positive impact on the world."
Macy's Passport Presents Glamorama is one of the most anticipated fashion shows of the year, and I was the host of its launch party on June 16, with almost 300 guests. This event, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, is the precursor to Glamorama's Artrageous, set for Aug. 12 at the Chicago Theatre.
