Stars are Bright, Prices Delight at Disney's Hollywood Hotel -
Art Deco Gem of the new Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

(HONG KONG, August 9, 2005) - It was the Golden Age of Hollywood when, night after night, searchlights on Hollywood Boulevard heralded the latest star-studded motion picture premiere at an ornate movie palace, celebrities wined and dined at swank clubs on the Sunset Strip, and young girls discovered at soda shops would become glamorous movie stars.

There was only one business that mattered in Hollywood in the 1930s and 1940s . Motion pictures.

Hollywood was the original movie capital of the world. It is a place where dreams become real and reality is often nothing more than a dream.

"This spirit of fantasy, whimsy and movie-making magic is reflected not only in Hollywood's product, motion pictures, but in its atmosphere, its essence and its architecture, all of which serve as the inspiration for Disney's Hollywood Hotel at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort," says Wing Chao, Executive Vice President, Master Planning, Architecture and Design for Walt Disney Imagineering.

Designed in the Art Deco style of architecture with whimsical Mickey Mouse-inspired motifs, the stylish eight-story hotel features 600 guest rooms in a U-shaped building arranged around a central courtyard. The hotel's Hollywood theme will make every guest feel like a movie star as they immerse themselves in the history and glamour of motion pictures.

Details abound in the hotel with the movie and Art Deco motif reflected in everything from the light fixtures and carpets in the public areas of the hotel to the wall coverings and bedspreads in the guest rooms, creating a "Disney Deco" ambience.

The moderately-priced hotel also includes dining, shopping, a lounge, a swimming pool, and a garden that unfolds like a map of Los Angeles with popular and well-known Hollywood streets, landmarks and icons.

A distinctly unique feature is its expansive lawns, which cover 21 acres and are available for guests to play on, picnic or simply relax.

Chef Mickey
The 280-seat buffet-style restaurant pays tribute to Disney's famous mouse with his famous ears adorning the decor. Bright lights shine through the oversized film reels suspended from the ceiling as diners enjoy a delicious array of international favorites.

The upscale buffet features a series of show kitchens where Disney chefs can be seen working their culinary magic. Guests can select from an array of Asian specialties including noodle dishes, freshly roasted BBQ pork, dim sum delicacies and spicy curries. Western favorites including salads, hamburgers and fresh pizza complete the international theme. The European bakery will tempt taste buds with freshly baked breads and pastries.

A special buffet for children will be set out on miniature tables to entice even the youngest guest to go on a culinary tour around the world.

Studio Lounge
Located just off the main lobby, the Art Deco theme of the hotel continues with the colorful, high-backed chairs and soft sofas complementing the streamlined wall panels.
With a full service bar offering specialty cocktails and mocktails (non-alcoholic mixed drinks), the Studio Lounge is a place to relax and enjoy the view through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Hollywood and Dine
Hollywood and Dine is a child-friendly restaurant featuring open display cases where guests will be able to choose from a selection of sandwiches, fresh juice, fruit and salads. Congee, dim sum and noodles also will be available as well as a selection of European-style pastries.

Sunset Terrace
For guests looking to dine outdoors, the 120-seat Sunset Terrace, located by the swimming pool, offers the ultimate barbeque location. True to its name, it will also be the perfect place to watch the sun set every evening.

Piano Pool Bar
Located adjacent to the swimming pool, the Piano Pool Bar offers a selection of cooling tropical drinks and snacks to complement a fun day outdoors.

In addition to exciting and unique dining experiences, Disney's Hollywood Hotel will offer a wide variety of leisure and recreation facilities. Perhaps the most distinctive feature is the garden that unfolds like a map of Los Angeles with popular and well-known Hollywood streets, landmarks and icons.

The pedestrian walkways will be modeled after such renowned Los Angeles landmarks as the Hollywood Freeway (complete with interchange), Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards, and Mulholland Drive. The famous "Hollywood" sign is certain to be a popular photo spot, while handprints and footprints of international and local celebrities will recreate the Avenue of the Stars.

The whimsical piano-shaped pool, complete with keys, in the center of the garden will feature a waterslide built into a rock where several "Hidden Mickeys" will inspire young "on the lookout" guests. Next to the pool, a whirlpool will relax and rejuvenate guests.

Among the many benefits for guests of Disney's Hollywood Hotel...

  • Guaranteed entrance to the theme park with purchase of theme park tickets.
  • Complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and park.
  • Merchandise purchased in the theme park will be delivered to the resort at no additional charge.

    About Hong Kong Disneyland
The Hong Kong Disneyland project was announced in 1999 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Hong Kong SAR Government. With the completion of reclamation for Hong Kong Disneyland Phase I by the Hong Kong SAR Government, theme park and resort construction began in January 2003, with the project now scheduled to open on 12th September, 2005. At opening day, Hong Kong Disneyland will comprise a theme park and two Disney-themed hotels.

The Phase I build-out includes a projected 10 million annual visitor Disneyland-style theme park, 2,100 hotel rooms, and an area for retail, dining and entertainment.
