BOSTON (AP) - The Stanley Cup-champion Boston Bruins selected defenseman Dougie Hamilton with the ninth pick in the first round of the NHL draft on Friday night.
The 6-foot-4, 193-pound defenseman has spent the past two seasons with the Niagara IceDogs in the Ontario Hockey League. Last season, he had 12 goals and 46 assists in 67 games.
The 18-year-old Toronto native finished with four goals and 16 points in a 14-game postseason run, as well.
Hamilton's brother, Freddie, was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round last season.
