Changes at Eclipse; New seasons at Raven and Circle

Swift_3Scott_4Nathaniel Swift (left) is the new artistic director of Eclipse Theatre and Kevin Scott (right) is the new managing director. Swift replaces Anish Jethmalani and Scott replaces the outgoing Thomas Jones. Eclipse also has announced a break in its one-playwright-per-season mission. The 2008 season will feature a collection of early 20th Century work penned by playwrights Eclipse has produced before. And the 2009 season will feature plays from the century's latter half, from such writers as Pearl Cleage and Rebecca Gilman — both the subjects of past Eclipse seasons.

Circle Theatre of Forest Park’s 2007-08 mainstage season will include John Godber’s rugby comedy  “Up and Under,”  the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” Julia Jordan’s drama “Boy,” the Cole Porter musical “Can Can,” and the frothy Noel Coward comedy, “Hay Fever.”

Raven Theatre's 2007-08 mainstage season (the company's 25th annual slate) will include Tennessee Williams' "The Night of the Iguana" (beginning in October), the Chicago premiere of the conceptual piece "Columbinus" (which deals with the Columbine shootings and opens in January) and Neil Simon's "Laughter on the 23rd Floor," which opens in May.
