THE Midwest is dotted with automotive museums, from exhibits of antique cars to midget and sprint racecars to famous cars from television and the movies to the car that was victorious in the first Indianapolis 500. Here is a list of automotive museums in several Midwest states.

Illinois

VOLO ANTIQUE AUTO MUSEUM This 30-acre museum features a collection of nearly 300 antique and famous cars like the original Batmobile from the TV show "Batman" and the Ecto 1 from "Ghostbusters." Indiana

AUBURN CORD DUESENBERG MUSEUM More than 100 vehicles housed in the Art Deco factory headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. NATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE AND TRUCK MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES. This collection is in the former Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automotive Facility, a National Historic Landmark. INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY HALL OF FAME MUSEUM On the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the collection includes the Marmon Wasp that won the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911 and the Duesenberg No. 12 Murphy Special, the only car to win both the French Grand Prix at Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500. NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME

Kansas

HIGHBANKS HALL OF FAME NATIONAL MIDGET AUTO RACING MUSEUM In the heart of north-central Kansas, a tribute to famous midget car tracks and racing legends. WALTER P. CHRYSLER BOYHOOD HOME AND MUSEUM This modest, one-story home was one of three in Ellis, Kansas, where automotive industry leader Walter Chrysler spent his boyhood, from 1878 to 1900.
